SHARING SOME UPLIFTING THOUGHTS from DR NORMAN VINCENT PEALE (to Give Comfort, Strength and Peace of Mind in Times of Trial and Struggle)

Submitters Note:

These are some notes that I wrote down many years ago in a very dark period of my life . . . a time of prolonged great hardship in a seemingly impossibly difficult situation, which I’m “passing on”. (I think they were from Norman Vincent Peace, the author of the Power of Positive Thinking). Yes, on checking my notes these words from Dr Peale’s ‘Self Help Book’ of Thought Conditioners (from the Bible) served to sustain and encourage me to “hang in there” with hope, faith and persistence. And I hope they may do the same for you . . . whatever situation you may find yourself in.

Hope these thoughts are not “too heavy-heavy religious” for you.

The light of God will be with you on the path up ahead.

*

Christianity has its roots in the mystery of eternal life. This faith is a way of understanding the unknowable. Wanted to understand the cycle of life, death and rebirth.

However, one has to be a believer to “get into different levels of understanding”… which is achieved through the immense power of faith.

“If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed…nothing shall be impossible to you . . . ”

“According to your faith, be it unto you.” – Matthew ix.290

“If God be for us, who can be against us?” – Romans viii.31

(and you may as well be too!!!)

Simply affirm:” God is with me in this situation; God is helping me; God is guiding me.

Remind yourself that God is with you and nothing can defeat you. BELIEVE that you now receive power from Him.

“Let nothing disturb you. Let nothing frighten you. Everything passes away except God. God alone is sufficient.”

Thomas Carlyle: “Silence is the element in which great things fashion themselves.”

I was in a situation where I had to make a decision: an intellectual, rational one (of the mind), or that of some kind of spiritual discipline and faith. The first (selling Sky subscriptions) one was easy, the second, the writing path) hard. The first is about ego, the second about the battle inside you that gives life meaning.

I chose the hardest path – it was like having wings. I wanted to look at everything another way.

It’s no specific faith. It could be any religion – it’s a deep belief in God, the human spirit.” – the words of Ingrid Betancourt (Colombian hostage)

LIFE’S PROBLEMS

1. Believe, really believe, that for every problem, there is a solution (and very often it’s a spiritual one).

2. Keep calm. Tension blocks the flow of thought power. Your brain cannot operate efficiently under too much stress.

3. Don’t try to force an answer. Keep the mind relaxed and the solution will become clear. List the facts of the problem on paper – be objective, so that your problem does not become subjective.

Be patient waiting for an answer, a solution …which comes via the subconscious mind

6. Pray about your problem, affirming that God will flash illumination into your mind. Believe God’s promise in the 73rd Psalm: “Thou wilt guide thee by thou counsel.”

7. Trust fully in the faculty of insight and intuition.

Go to church (and/or meditate) and let your subconscious work on the problem.

There is always a close connection between how a man thinks and how he feels. In addition, there is impressive evidence to support the view that God works through both the practitioner of science, the doctor, and the practitioner of faith, the minister (mind-body relationship). The answer is in the healing teachings of Jesus.

“Be still and know that I am God.” – Psalm XVI.10

“In him we live and move and have our being.” – Acts xvii.28

By faith you place yourself in the flow of divine power.

William James: “The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.” As you think, so shall you be. fill your mind with fresh new creative thoughts of faith, love and goodness.”

1. Don’t get the idea that you are Atlas carrying the world on your shoulders. Don’t strain so hard. Don’t take yourself so seriously.

2. Determine to like your work. Change yourself and your work will seem different.

3. Plan your work and work your plan.

4. Don’t try to do everything at once: “This one thing I do.”

5. Get the right mental attitude.

6. Practice being relaxed – take it all in your stride.

William James: “One of the deepest drives of human nature is the desire to be appreciated.”

“If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peacably with all men.’ – Romans xii.18

It is not advisable to attempt to carry the burden of sorrow and mental pain without Divine help; for it’s weight is more than the personality can bear. There is always the soothing presence of God at hand.

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.” – I Corinthians ii.9

Socrates: “No evil can befall a good man in this life or in the next.”

* State your problem

* Ask for a specific answer. Believe that you are getting that answer. BELIEVE, really believe that now through God’s help, you are gaining power over that difficulty.

Higher Power/Authority

If there is deep desire, intensity of longing, and a reaching out after the Power, it will be given.

We may never meet in person, but in this book we have met. We are spiritual friends. I pray for you, God will help you – so believe and live successfully.

Jesus Christ: “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John X 10.

PRAYER

Prayer helps people to tap forces and to utilise strength not otherwise available.

A famous psychologist once said these wise words: “Prayer is the greatest power available to the individual in solving his personal problems. It’s power astonishes me.” Release of spiritual energy through prayer. It releases and keeps power flowing freely.

According to your faith, be it unto you.” – Matthew ix.29

“What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” – Mark xi.24

Faith and harmony are important factors in the prayer process.

Hard work, positive thinking, fair dealing, right treatment of people, and the proper kind of praying always gets results. Formula: * Prayerise + * Picturise + * Actualise

The Kingdom of God is within you.” – Luke xvii.21

Prayer is the mightiest power in the world. Every day is good if you pray.

Always accept willingness to accept God’s will in your life. Ask for what you want; but be willing to take what God gives you. It may be better than what you ask for.

Tranquillity – the very word denotes a sense of peace.

So long thy power hath kept me, sure it STILL will lead me on. Send into the area of your thinking a healing balm.

With God’s help I am now emptying my mind of all fear, all anxiety, all insecurity. Repeat. Picture all worry thoughts flowing out of you.

Mark in your Bible every passage that speaks of faith, hope, happiness, glory and radiance. Commit each to memory.

When Jesus Christ was born He was called Immanuel, meaning God with us.

* PRAYER

EXPECT THE BEST AND GET IT

“If thou can’st believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” – Mark IX 23

Whatever you believe you can do, you can do, with God’s help. When you put your trust in God, he guides your mind so that you do not want things that are not good for you, or that are inharmonious with God’s will. When you learn to believe, then that which has seemingly been impossible moves into the area/becomes possible. When you expect the best, you release a magnetic force in your mind, which by a law of attraction tends to bring the best to you.

Faith moves mountains: Faith, belief, positive thinking, faith in God, faith in other people, faith in yourself, faith in life.

Freed from self doubt, you can put your whole self into your endeavour, and nothing can stand in the way of the man or woman, who focuses their entire self on a problem. Expect to succeed and you WILL.

“Throw your heart over the bar and your body will follow.”

Expect the best, not the worst, and you will attain your heart’s desire. It is what is in the heart of you, either good or bad, weak or strong, that finally comes to you. Emerson: “Beware of what you want, for you will get it.” faith power works wonders.

Have faith in God. “For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed and be thou cast into the sea.”

– Mark 11

“But shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” – Mark XI. 22-23

Be specific. Ask God for any right thing, but as a little child, don’t doubt…NEVER.

* STRENGTH

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

– Phillipians iv.13

“Mighty oaks from little acorns grow.”

“A clean mind, as a clean engine, always delivers power.”

A fundamental doctrine of Emerson: the human personality can be touched with Divine Power and thus greatness can be released from it.

“The greatest factor in any undertaking is one’s belief about it.”

– William James

Thoreau: the secret of achievement is to hold a picture of a successful outcome in mind.

Jefferson: “Take the smooth handle”…ie. follow the path of least resistance.

RELAX. Affirm the thought that God is filling us with strength and quiet energy. Get yourself in tune with Him and open yourself to the flow of His power.

Give your job all you’ve got, but in a relaxed manner.

“According to your faith be it unto you.” – Matthew ix.29 is a basic law for successful living.

“The just shall live by faith – Romans 1:16,17

“YOU are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” – Matthew

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.” – Isaiah 40.28-31.

In his new book, ‘Put Your Dream to the Test’), John Maxwell is talking about the dream journey of the bible-character, Joseph. And there are parallels that each one of us can learn from Joseph in following the path of our own dreams. A first lesson: Each great journey has a great price. The questions to ask yourself to make your wildest dreams come true:

1. Am I willing to pay the price for my dream? Don’t be limited by your thinking (eg fleas in a bottle learnt not to jump high). There is always a cost to reaching your dreams. Family and friends often react negatively to your dream. Always remember, along the journey, you will have more “downs” than “ups”.

2. Do I have enough passion? Does my passion impel me to keep the dream alive? Passion is the great energizer, which pushes us on, when all appears lost.

3. Always remember, God is with you in the tough times, the “dark ” days and hours in the valleys. Along the journey we become closely attached to God, our “closest companion” through our “ups and downs”… to guide, strengthen and comfort us. God is ALWAYS faithful “If God is with us, everybody else might as well be too!” – John Maxwell

* Attitude is a CHOICE The attitude I have today is a choice. It’s my responsibility… TODAY! Invest in others. Put others first. Help them achieve THEIR dreams. Add value to them (and their lives) There are four ways to do that:

1. Value people, first

2. Add value to what others value.

3. By making ourselves more valuable

4. By doing things God values – that have an eternal nature.

NB: Be forgiving – no matter what someone has done to you. Have a forgiving spirit.

*

Part Four: In his address (based on his new book, ‘Put Your Dream to the Test’), John Maxwell is talking about the dream journey of Joseph. Joseph went from being a “believer” into a “buyer of the dream”, he really “bought into” his dream and “survived the surprise”. He fully trusted God (though “bad things can still happen to good people”).

INTRODUCTION

Submitter’s Note:

Craig has been studying the amazing powers of the human mind for the past two decades (now his “life-long hobby”). These are some notes I took from an uplifting and inspiring address by Dr John Maxwell from the ‘Hour of Power’ television programme (he has written a new book), so (even if you are not “religiously-minded”) I am sharing the contents of this author’s work in the spirit of encouraging and hopefully even inspiring those people to just GO FOR IT with all you’ve got. Nothing is impossible, if you earnestly desire it and work hard at achieving your dreams. Thank you sincerely, Dr Maxwell for sharing your most uplifting words of wisdom in encouraging me to follow my passion and reach for my personal dreams down the “un-trodden path of self fulfilment”. I in turn am passing them on through the amazing power of the ‘net’. Enjoy…

NOW THAT YOU HAVE ACHIEVED YOUR WILDEST DREAM(S)… WHAT NEXT?

Once we achieve, receive our dream, how to make the most of it? My dream is HERE. Often we can impact others more through sharing our failures more than our successes (a failure is just a person, who hasn’t succeeded …YET!). Now that you have achieved your dream…

* Be GENEROUS

* HELP others.. through adding value to them…. through your success (and what you’ve learnt along the way). Remember: ” God will not give to us, what will not flow through usSo share the benefits of your dream with others. Ask yourself: “Does my success, achieving my dream, benefit others in some way?” “Will other people be blessed with the God-given dream inside me?” .

*

SUMMARY:

1. Be GENEROUS

2 Be HUMBLE. “If the Lord makes you successful… one day, I’ll keep you humble.”

– a wife (I won’t say whose!)

Remember: “divine promotion is better than self promotion”) God raised me up. God helps those who can’t help themselves, when we are in over our heads and God makes the difference in achieving our dreams. Keeps us humble. CHOOSE to give God the glory, pass it on . Say, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” – Philippians 4:3)

3 Have an attitude TO WIN Say “I CAN…one sunny day!

4. Live with an ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE Always remember… God has already equipped you with all that you need to achieve your goals and even your wildest dreams . It usually takes a long time for your dream to lift off (the bigger the dream, the longer it takes). So be PATIENT. Wait on your dream. Trials and tribulations bring patience. Dreams are conceived in the mind long before they are realised. Dreams are like a large aircraft, a Jumbo jet on the runway. It takes a lot of energy for them to lift off, but then you soar freely. You can, if you THINK you can. Just believe in your dream…and yourself!

5. Use the great power of the human imagination to the fullest.

“Whatever the mind can conceive, can be achieved”.

Do all this in following YOUR dream and you WILL soar high and allow you to be all God intended you to be and become. You CAN do it … and in doing so you’ll surprize yourself at what is “humanly” possible!

Makes your dreams BIG enough for God, the Ultimate Source to fit in!

BELIEVE it (first) …then SEE your dreams come true

About the submitter:

Craig has been following his dream for many years. He likes (rather loves) to share knowledge and insights from his life experiences with dashes of humour to try and help others in ‘every little way’ he can… without being too much of a “Mr goody-goody boring two shoes” (although they may be different colours and he’s lost the other one) . Craig believes the spiritual dimension is something we can all “tap into”… like ‘a sixth sense’, which gives each person ‘superior wisdom’ (“Infinite Wisdom from the Ultimate Source”) in making decisions and choosing one’s path in life.

He loves encouraging people to find, then follow their dreams in life… truly believing that with hard work, dedication, faith, and patience absolutely ANYTHING is possible to achieve (accomplish) in life

Enjoy…

*

PUT YOUR DREAM TO THE TEST AND HOW TO SURVIVE THE SURPRIZE by Dr John Maxwell

“It took me twenty long years of blood, sweat and floods of tears to become an overnight success.”

– an anymoose writer”

* *

* Be GENEROUS

DETERMINATION – THE KEY TO SUCCESS

I think the key words in the path to success are: DETERMINATION and SELF DISCIPLINE. Others are FOCUS and a SINGLE-MINDEDNESS (in pursuit of one’s goals). The words ‘determination’ and (by association) ‘ruthlessness’, suggest a person who wants success and power for it’s own sake. This is another sort of obsession. However, a desire for power, riches and fame may have virtually nothing to do with it. By the way, I feel that not all successful people and business executives are ruthless – they are not all “money grabbing corporate raiders”. Most of them are “normal and good family men”, who have perfectly natural reactions in that they hate firing employees. “Soft gentle souls!” Determination is often at its greatest, when a person is enslaved by an idea and wants to see the idea work. There is a further sort of determination: the determination to see things through, to finish the job. For example, a compulsion to qualify for the PGA golf tour in America, to finish a building, or in my case to finish writing this manuscript…and then get it published… which is the hardest part of all. Especially with the way I write!

I suppose all these characteristics are somewhat abnormal; because so-called “normal” people are more passive and less focused than us “obsessive types”. They are regarded as being less “mad” by the majority of the public, who engage in more ordinary activities and have more “normal” occupations. This thought leads me on to another question: Is the top-most level of success the only one worth having, or is it sufficient to merely enjoy sport for it’s own sake (even the professionals)? Does every player entering Wimbledon really think he or she is going to win the Championship? Or is it success itself just to play in the Wimbledon tournament? How realistic is the vision of success to YOU? It all depends on how you define success for yourself…which is the thought with which I introduced this chapter. I believe that a strong SENSE OF DIRECTION or PURPOSE IN LIFE is a very important ingredient for success. So too is a persistent personality.

To be successful in whatever endeavour one chooses, first of all requires a great of talent. It might be latent, waiting to be uncovered. Perhaps, you are not even aware of it. I wonder how many budding Ayrton Senna’s and Michael Schumachers there are around, who just have never had the opportunity (mainly in the form of money) to race cars? Motor racing is certainly the “ultimate rich boy’s sport”. To finally reap the rewards of success, obviously talent has to be there on the long slow road to success – and at the time of success…but has it always been there? Chess geniuses, athletes, tennis players, architects, athletes, scientists, dress designers and advertising creative directors. These “creative types”! There can be talent deep within; but there has to be hard work and training before the talent bears fruition – so that it can succeed against (all) others…and this often takes a great deal of time to bear fruit.
“Ït took me 20 long years of blood, sweat and tears to become an overnight success.”
– “a nony mouse”

I believe in life it’s firstly a matter of finding your “niche”, then unlocking your unique talents…and finding it is the most difficult part. You may not even be aware you have any special gifts. That is the “key” to success. As I mentioned, I found whatever little ones I had through a process of serendipity…and it’s probably my one and only talent! My writing, I mean. Once uncovered, it’s then a question of building on it and maximizing it. Maria Callas, the opera singer with “a voice like an angel” put a great deal of effort into maximizing her talent. Sometimes a phenomenol talent, like a Juan Manuel Fangio*, Jim Clark or Ayrton Senna soars above all others; but in most cases it’s the effort and total dedication put in to make the most of one’s natural talents, that puts an individual into the realm of a superstar – someone who is on a different level, a cut above the best of the rest, us ‘mere mortals’.

* Fangio won the World Driver’s Championship five times.

One can sometimes substitute hard work, training, experience and strategy for flair. Nice word that ‘flair’. Could be a girl’s name. Some detectives are like “Mr Plod”, while a few sleuths have the natural insight of a Sherlock Holmes. Most others have to get results through hard detailed work in uncovering cases. I don’t yet know whether I’m a “natural” writer or a methodical plodder, a “gatherer and passer-onner of useless information” through a great deal of effort. Perhaps only time will tell! I might have mentioned before (once, twice or ten times) that this manuscript has been written for anyone: from the most lowly amateur to the real ‘pros’ in the sporting world. So no matter how lowly your abilities, make the most of them.

As I mentioned already, a positive attitude to life is all-important. A positive attitude says that your natural talent can be maximized. It also says that without further effort, natural talent will be wasted. I do like repeating myself: for emphasis primarily and as a sign of encroaching senility too. Sometimes persistent effort alone won’t succeed in getting you to the top – only sheer talent will do that… together with consistent effort to keep you at “the top of the tree”.

Never mind – JUST TRY TO IMPROVE yourself and simply DO YOUR BEST at all times.

Say: “I WILL UNTIL…”

Have “heaps” of FUN as you “ride the rapids of life” *

Fifteen Dynamic Principles to Make Your Wildest Dreams Come True

“I’d rather attempt something great and fail…
than try something easy + ordinary and succeed.”
– inspiring words from Norman Vincent Peale
(US preacher and author)

According to Bill Gates there are 3 keys to success in any new
venture:
1) Being in the right place at the right time! (You could well be already there!)

2) Have a vision of where the industry/business you’re working in is going!
and

3) Taking Massive and Immediate Action! (It is time to ACT!)

“The future belongs to those who believe in the quality of their dreams.”

Was it Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe, the famous German poet and philosopher who said those wise words… or was it perhaps my good friend and “technogeek” associate , Bill Rosoman?

“Within you right now is the power to do things you never dreamed possible. This power becomes available to you just as soon as you can change your beliefs.”
– Maxwell Maltz

Here are my 15 steps to fulfilling my wildest dreams . . .

1. KNOW YOURSELF. Get in touch with your Higher Self. Know and accept your weaknesses and faults (we all have them), but even more so your strengths, abilities and gifts. Build on your strengths and try to minimize or improve on your weaknesses; however work more on your strengths. An honest, objective analysis of yourself is the first step in preparing you for success and realizing your dreams. Celebrate you for just being you, a unique creation. “Each one of us has been uniquely created by God and within each of us, we have certain special ‘instincts’ or ‘natural tendencies/strengths/inclinations’ towards certain things. When you learn to trust and rightly apply your instinct, that is when your uniqueness will shine through. You will have no competition. You will attract those people that just need and love your service or products. There are ways you can develop to let more of your natural strengths to shine through in your business (and your life). Amazing, isn’t it?”
– anon

Aim for mental CLARITY about what you most want out of life. Think about it and write it down. If it’s happiness, what do you mean by happiness: a sense of belonging, recognition, independence, love, money or security? Most people couldn’t tell you what they want out of life, other than some generalities, like “be happy, rich, etc”. Just KNOW exactly what you are seeking. .If you don’t know where you are and where you want to go with your life, how will you ever get there? Aim at nothing and you’re sure to hit it.

2. GET PASSIONATE. Don’t apologize for getting passionate. What excites you the most? If you are not enthusiastic and excited about what you’re doing, your path in life, you’ll never get others to share your dream. Once you find your passion, you will have found your POWER, MEANING and PURPOSE in life. SIGNIFICANCE is more important than success, I feel.

3. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVE PASSION. Always be aware…negative people will poison your dream faster than
anything else. Motto: “If you can’t be positive, shut up!” Try and stay positive … even in the face of negativity. People couldn’t
understand when I said twelve years ago that I wanted to write inspiring words to try to make a difference to touch people’s lives around the globe from a “small town/little city” here near the bottom of the world. That was my personal vision in my circumstances. I’d never heard of the net and some people (friends and associates) said I was “crazy” and laughed.

4. ACCEPT FROM THE START THAT YOU WON’T PLEASE EVERYONE. You’re going to be misunderstood, misquoted, hurt some feelings, perhaps even lose some friends (for the time being). Motto: ” What other people think of me is none of my business!” Repeat this statement to yourself, especially when you doubt or feel discouraged – you will be many times. People will think you are crazy, when you state your dream. “Impossible!”

5. ALWAYS BE YOURSELF. “To thine own self be true.” (Shakespeare’s Hamlet, act I.3.) This is supremely important, no matter what the world may think of you. The masses are conditioned to mediocrity and other people’s success can make them not feel so good about their own insignificant little lives (the “tall poppy syndrome”, so prevalent here in New Zealand and in Australia). Accept yourself. Learn from others – but don’t be intimidated by them, or pretend to be someone you’re not; because, “We are most
effective when we’re being ourselves.”

6. DON’T BE SCARED OF MAKING MISTAKES. The only real mistake is one from which you learn nothing. Motto: “Far better to try
something and fail, than try nothing and succeed!”

7. ACCEPT THAT IT WILL NEVER BE EASY. Realizing your dream may be the hardest, most uphill thing you’ll ever do. A truth: “You
can’t coast uphill.” If you truly believe in what you’re doing (or trying to do), the value of your product or service and that it will ultimately HELP others, the key ingredient in success is never giving up. “Keep on keeping on” with your quest. It has been said that “success is 99% made up of failures”.

8 (i). TRY AND STAY HUMBLE (no matter how successful you may eventually be.) Don’t ever think you’ve made it and arrived —
there’s always lots up ahead, more to do, higher mountains to climb. Motto: “The greatest way to do our thing has yet to be
discovered!”

(ii) Live with absolute integrity. This is MOST IMPORTANT.
“If you have integrity, nothing else matters.
If you don’t have integrity, nothing else matters.”
– Alan K. Simpson

9. DON’T UNDERESTIMATE YOURSELF – OR GOD (INFINITE/CREATIVE INTELLIGENCE, HIGHER SELF, HIGHER POWER, THE UNIVERSE, GRAND DESIGNER OR WHATEVER ELSE YOU CALL THE GREAT CREATOR). There
is incredible power in yourself (in the form of the unique human mind – conscious and subconscious ), but far more so in the forces of the Universe. Make them work for you by living your life in harmony with these natural forces. Like positive energy attracts like. Enough “spiritual” thoughts! Back to the “real world” and you…Avoid having a minority complex (Who am I, a ‘nothing’?”) or be filled with
feelings of self pity (“nobody likes me”), or think “I can’t do
it”, which will steal your dream. You are special and unique – a ‘child of the Universe, of God.’

10. HAVE FUN. Nothing is ever as bad as it seems – don’t get too solemn, or serious or too downcast when things go wrong (as they
surely will from time to time). Take a leaf from Thomas Edison’s book: “I never did a day’s work in my entire life: it was all FUN!” Laugh at life’s funny moments, and there are plenty of them.

“The secret of happiness is not doing what one likes, but in liking what one does.”
– J.M. Barrie

11. DEVELOP ‘THE WILL TO LIVE’. Because there will be plenty of times when you’ll face the death of your dream. When failures,
disappointments, criticisms come, you need the will and faith for better days to keep going. Remember: We learn far more from our
failures than our successes, because failures show us what doesn’t work. So failure is just one step closer to ultimate success. Often the difference between failure and success is trying just one more time, picking yourself up off the canvas after being knocked down time and again.

12. DEVELOP ‘THE WILL TO HELP AND SERVE OTHERS’. Success on its own (i.e., for its own sake) will pollute and corrupt you; it’s a ‘dead end street’, unless you have meaning and significance in your life. The years of struggle breed fortitude and character. The gold may be an inch away from the seam, where your fellow miners have given up. You need to succeed for a reason, a purpose, a cause that’s
bigger than you! And IF (“a very big if) you’ve fulfilled all the above “requirements”.

Your dream may even be to help others reach their dreams.

13. ALWAYS BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR OPPORTUNITIES. They are all around you. There are no permanent problems- only solutions, possibilities and opportunities. The Chinese word for ‘crisis’ means ‘danger’ + ‘opportunity’. Always remember, when you’ve exhausted all your possibilities, you haven’t – there’s always another way, a better way… and even more importantly, always another day!

14. IF YOU TRULY BELIEVE IN WHAT YOU ARE DOING, DEVELOP THE ‘WILL TO SUCCEED’ with absolute commitment. It is not enough to just survive – aim at being the best you can possibly be! Keep your dream big, bold and even “outrageous” – don’t water it down or settle for mediocrity, even if others think you are crazy! Trust
in your judgment, your intuition and your creative mind to
overcome any obstacles (and you’re sure to come across them). “Be bold and mighty unseen forces come to your aid.” (I love that quote by Brian Tracy). Always remember, “What is impossible with man is possible with God”….so put your
trust in the Creator (Great), the Essence of Life and aim for the heavens, even the stars.
Always remember, God will never give you a dream without your having the capacity (or potential) to see it to fruition.

Also God’s dreams are always far bigger than we can envisage (nice big word, eh…or should I have rather said ‘imagine’!) ourselves.
“The dreams of great dreamers are not realised, but are surpassed…made FAR BIGGER by the Spirit of the Universe.
“Make (Let) your dreams be big enough for God to fit in.”

All we have to do is WORK hard, doing one’s very best and TRUST…because with FAITH (great) + ACTION (the faith impels one to the action) ANYTHING is possible.

Listen to the uniqueness of your soul.
NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAM! Be patient and have faith (GREAT). Don’t be in too much of a hurry to achieve your goals and dreams. (“God, please give me patience…but please HURRY. I want it right NOW”)

Be persistent and never quit. “Keep on keeping on.” As the saying goes, ‘Winners never quit and quitters never win.’ Have faith: firstly in yourself, your abilities and then in a Higher Power, our Creator, the Source of Life, Who/That wants for you to fulfill yourself through your unique gifts and abilities and then you’ll be full of joy. How to Make the Most of Your Mind: How to Get What You Most Want In Life

“The mind is the citadel of the soul, wherein is housed the connecting link between the conscious thinking process of man and Infinite Intelligence. The only thing the Creator has given man is the right of absolute control – it is the most important of the gifts of the Creator…and the means by which man may control the major part of his earthly destiny.”
– Napoleon Hill

“Within you right now is the power to do things you never dreamed possible. This power becomes available to you just as soon as you can change your beliefs.”
– Maxwell Maltz

“What would you do in life, if you KNEW you could not possibly fail?”

INTRODUCTION

In this work we’ll explore the link between the mind and spirituality, by taking a brief look at the relationship between the psychological and the higher dimension of the spiritual realm. This work is a practical guide to help you make the most of your circumstances, through utilising the amazing power of the human mind.
I hope that it will help you, as much as it has helped me in writing my journal (keeping a daily record of my thoughts and progress). If I’m on the wrong track, I’ve really made an ass of myself!

This work is a practical look at the steps to take to see one’s wildest dreams turn into reality…through making the most of the amazing powers of the human mind.

I have brought in some spiritual aspects, as I believe we are all on a spiritual journey in an “earthly existence” (and the spiritual is just another and higher dimension to psychological principles and truths of life). We are spiritual beings; because we humans do not live solely by instinct, as we have the POWER to make CHOICES in our lives – to make them better and more comfortable, or to help others in some way ( as we live at a higher plane than animals…at least most of us!).

So I’ll be sharing some philosophical principles in life, based on MY beliefs.

1. Firstly, ask yourself this vitally important question:
WHO AM I?

This is the “core of you and the real essence of our being”. What excites you and makes you “tick-tock-clock”. It is not WHAT I am (in other words what you DO or a living), eg truck-driver, laywer, sales clerk, nurse, accountant (oh dear!) and so on.
It is father, husband, wife, provider, encourager, carer, and so on.

Secondly…
2. What “fires you up” with passion?
These are what brings you most pleasure, activities that you are best at, ie. your God-given gifts. I love writing to “touch” and hopefully help in encouraging others to be all that they can become and so live more joyful and fruitful lives.

For most people their jobs (= “just on broke”) are merely a means to the end – paying the bills and earning a living, but the means usually becomes the end in itself. That is how most people define themselves, eg homemaker. Incidentally, if you are really stuck in the deep brown stuff, our greatest problem is also God’s greatest opportunity – to work miracles in our lives. I truly believe that!

Secondly…
2. What “fires you up” with
passion?

3. Ask yourself this important question:
What can I do to make my life more SIGNIFICANT?

and finally

4. What is your PURPOSE – your reason for taking up space on the planet?
This is closely related to your concept of the meaning of life.
For example, many people think they believe that life is about
sharing their blessings of time, talents and money with others. Great!

Everyone has unique gifts and we are all different.
I truly believe my purpose is to be an encourager and “bridge-builder” through the power of words. Anyway what “normal” job would be suitable for someone like me!

All one needs to do is follow ones heart and TRUST fully, taking one step at a time in total faith…then one step leads naturally to the next.
*

Now, HOW TO GET THERE?
Firstly,
Analyse where you are in life and how you got there.
Oh well, that’s another book!

MEDITATE
This state provides clarity of thinking through drawing on intuition, the “still calm voice within”. I find it helps me greatly in choosing the path ahead, the “road less travelled”: to give me an opportunity of clear thinking and total
peace of mind on where to put my mental and physical energies. To know where you want to go, you first have to know where you are standing on the “map of life”.

And thank goodness we are all unique creations wanting different things out of life!

So
Ask yourself…

What do I most want out of Life?

PRAY, if you do that. Prayer operates through the subconscious mind connecting to God, “Infinite Intelligence”, the Creator of the Universe, “Higher Self”, Divine Wisdom. You are drawing on a ‘Higher Dimension’ we can’t (nor are we supposed to) understand. The subconscious mind is your gateway to unlimited power.

Write down a mission statement for your life. What is your main PURPOSE for being on this planet? Not just to take up space or inhale oxygen, please!

Who do I want to really Be?

It all starts with DESIRE (intense/burning).

The first step is making a DECISION:

I really want to be a writer, who uplifts and inspires people to reach for their ultimate dreams and become all they can possibly be.
“My dream is trying to make some difference through encouraging and helping other people to fulfil their potentials , to reach for and even realise their
dreams.” Crazy???
This is the path I KNOW that I am headed to achieve my destiny, even though “logical/rational” (and some “well-meaning” acquaintances have said it’s impossible from here in “Sleepy Hollow” near the bottom of the world). I took the DECISION to work really hard, follow my heart and not my mind (logic) and just TRUST the universe for a favourable outcome to my endeavours.

I truly believe God, Infinite Spirit, the Ultimate Designer of the Universe, Creator of Life itself, has a plan or EVERY life, but it’s up to each individual to FIND it themselves. Once discovered, then we have to take the decision to follow that path, “come what may”. I know its scary, but it DOES work out! Life is all about CHOICES…and making the right ones for YOU in total FAITH.

In so doing, I believe we glorify our Creator. The purpose of life is expressing our individual talents for the good of humanity and I believe, God is happiest when we can express our love back to Him/Her/It. ( I CHOOSE to think that, whereas my good analytical deep-thinking friend thinks “God doesn’t care a jot , but just observes us)

“Every man has his own destiny; the only imperative is to follow it, no matter where it leads him.”
– Henry Miller

“The task ahead of you can always be overcome by the power within you…and the seemingly difficult path ahead of you is never as steep with the great spirit that lies within you.”
– craig

“Our talents are our gifts from God… but what we do with them are our gifts TO God.”
*
Here are some recent notes from my journal (as I believe my path illustrates the practical principles that I’m writing about in this piece…

I DECIDED to put my main FOCUS into studying the human mind and writing this account (“hence”- nice word eh?) this journal. I am just TRUSTING (unlike a ‘net’ colleague, who purely look at the financial rewards for the effort) and “some sane” acquaintances who say, “get another proper job”. I believe GIVE FREELY, without expecting, then you’ll be surely blessed.

Signed off with an attitude of GRATITUDE that I love my fascinating “work” and am living the perfect life (“crazy” to others) for ME.

Thursday 8th April 2004:

My goal or the Easter long weekend to is work on this manuscript and read more on the unlimited powers of the human mind (don’t worry about mundane domestic issues, like housekeeping, gardening and mowing the lawn). Who cares about those things!
So made the decision to continue along this path.

The four “D’s”:
It all starts with:

* DESIRE (intense, burning and passionate)
What do you really want out of life?
What is your DEFINITE PURPOSE?

* Make the DECISION to go for it and neglect boring domestic chores, like mowing lawns.

In order to get there, you’ll need to develop

* DISCIPLINE (self) – usually in big doses.
(I’m typing this on a “wild” Saturday evening in “Sleepy Hollow” near the ends of the earth).

CHAPTER ONE:

DEVELOP A SENSE OF PURPOSE OR YOUR LIFE:
What are your deepest DESIRES and VALUES?

2. SET YOUR PERSONAL GOALS:
Make the DECISION to go for your deepest desires, your wildest dreams.
Are you honestly prepared to make all the sacrifices, no matter how long it takes to “get there”? Man was made to create through the amazing powers of the human
imagination. What do you like CREATING most? I believe our Creator is happiest when we are our “Authentic Selves” doing what we are “destined to do”.

What is a miracle? I don’t think a miracle an only be defined as an occurrence violating natural laws. In fact, I see my situation as a miracle, considering how far I’ve come and where I am now in my life with my resources.
I truly believe my calling is building bridges through the net at this stage and still believe my path and vision lies in electronic
publishing.

TOOK THE DECISION: WRITING (and web publishing) IS MY MAIN PATH in the future – encouraging others through my writings online + people in the “real world”. So made the personal decision to be an “incorrigible encourager” (and an “information and inspiration distributer”).

Make the DECISION:
to FOCUS on your desired outcomes. EXPECT a favourable outcome to your endeavours.
“Blessed are those who expect little… because they will receive little.”

I’d better expect “heaps” then from my endeavours.

Never mind, I’ll just work steadily and see what happens. What the Universe brings forth, but I love the uncertainty of the journey anyway!

“Be bold and unseen forces come to one’s aid!”

The key, I believe is INTENT – the SPIRIT with which you undertake any course of action. ACT. Just DO, without focussing overly on results. Of course, the hardest thing is getting the right balance between objectives (results) and just doing for the pleasure.
(This will depend on things, like your personal needs at the time, mind-set, temperament, outlook on life,
attitude – whether optimistic or pessimistic, etc.).
As the sportspeople say, “get in the zone” and “go with the flow”. I find I get my best results when I just do my very best at a particular task or goal, work steadily and consistently each day, taking one step at a time.

Stop striving and simply “let go and let God.”

…and that’s what I’m doing greatly enjoying writing this “work”.

THINK, like a child. Children have incredible imaginations. What were the dreams you had as a child (before the responsibilities and “burdens” of adult maturity)? NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE!

As Walt Disney once said…
“It’s kinda fun to do the impossible.”

We CAN/we WILL do it with God’s help.
Keep a POSITIVE ATTITUDE at all times, when you encounter seemingly insurmountable obstacles (and you WILL),
Trust your
intuition/God.
Do not wait! The time will never be ‘just right’.
“Start where you stand and work with whatever tools you may have at your command
and better tools will be found as you go along.”
– Napoleon Hill (author of the classic work ‘Think and Grow Rich‘)

“There can be no shadows unless there is a sun.”
Pray about the right path for YOU.
TAKE ACTION (massive).
ACT “as if” you are already successful and visualise “arriving there”. Crazy!
The future does not have to be the same as the past. Say, “everything in my life has prepared me for this journey”.
Follow the Laws of the Universe: ie. the Law of:
1. Cause and Effect
2. Attraction (=
Gratitude)
3.
Creativity
and
4. the Power (Magic) of Belief

“Work as if everything depended upon YOU and TRUST (and pray) as if everything depended on God.”
– anon

Take one step towards God (or Allah, the Life Force, or whatever you understand a higher being to mean to you) and God takes three steps towards you.

Have “heaps of patience”. Your desired results may take months or even years to materialise. Lord, please give me patience… but I want it right NOW!.

What would you DO if you knew you could not fail? Embrace the journey.

Then watch “miracles” happen in your life, as you one day achieve your most earnest desires.

Just do your very best to make A DIFFERENCE in this amazing world and have great FUN along the way. That to me is true success*.

* (like loving a lot, laughing a lot and having good friends).

This path will be used as a testimony to the unlimited power and love of God, our Creator, who know’s each one of us intimately (and consequently our unique purposes) and consequently what’s best for YOU…

so love the magical journey of life.

Happy travelling in finding your true purpose for being on this planet,
ie God’s plan for YOUR life.

How much music can you make out of your life, with the time you have left?
