We hope that the following article (an extract from one of Craig’s first manuscripts on sport psychology‘The Winning Mind’, as well as an extract from Chapter Two of one of Craig’s first manuscripts (“rather wacky”) titled ‘STEPS TO SUCCESS, PROSPERITY AND HAPPINESS’ and his book on thepsychology of sport titled ‘The Winning Mind’ written “many many moons ago” may be informative and helpful to your ezine readers, or on your web site. If it helps others “out there” on the pathway to success (and most importantly, happiness), then we’re very happy.

DETERMINATION – THE KEY TO SUCCESS
I think the key words in the path to success are: DETERMINATION and SELF DISCIPLINE. Others are FOCUS and a SINGLE-MINDEDNESS (in pursuit of one’s goals). The words ‘determination’ and (by association) ‘ruthlessness’, suggest a person who wants success and power for it’s own sake. This is another sort of obsession. However, a desire for power, riches and fame may have virtually nothing to do with it. By the way, I feel that not all successful people and business executives are ruthless – they are not all “money grabbing corporate raiders”. Most of them are “normal and good family men”, who have perfectly natural reactions in that they hate firing employees. “Soft gentle souls!” Determination is often at its greatest, when a person is enslaved by an idea and wants to see the idea work. There is a further sort of determination: the determination to see things through, to finish the job. For example, a compulsion to qualify for the PGA golf tour in America, to finish a building, or in my case to finish writing this manuscript…and then get it published… which is the hardest part of all. Especially with the way I write!
I suppose all these characteristics are somewhat abnormal; because so-called “normal” people are more passive and less focused than us “obsessive types”. They are regarded as being less “mad” by the majority of the public, who engage in more ordinary activities and have more “normal” occupations. This thought leads me on to another question: Is the top-most level of success the only one worth having, or is it sufficient to merely enjoy sport for it’s own sake (even the professionals)? Does every player entering Wimbledon really think he or she is going to win the Championship? Or is it success itself just to play in the Wimbledon tournament? How realistic is the vision of success to YOU? It all depends on how you define success for yourself…which is the thought with which I introduced this chapter. I believe that a strong SENSE OF DIRECTION or PURPOSE IN LIFE is a very important ingredient for success. So too is a persistent personality.
To be successful in whatever endeavour one chooses, first of all requires a great of talent. It might be latent, waiting to be uncovered. Perhaps, you are not even aware of it. I wonder how many budding Ayrton Senna’s and Michael Schumachers there are around, who just have never had the opportunity (mainly in the form of money) to race cars? Motor racing is certainly the “ultimate rich boy’s sport”. To finally reap the rewards of success, obviously talent has to be there on the long slow road to success – and at the time of success…but has it always been there? Chess geniuses, athletes, tennis players, architects, athletes, scientists, dress designers and advertising creative directors. These “creative types”! There can be talent deep within; but there has to be hard work and training before the talent bears fruition – so that it can succeed against (all) others…and this often takes a great deal of time to bear fruit.
“Ït took me 20 long years of blood, sweat and tears to become an overnight success.”
– “a nony mouse”
I believe in life it’s firstly a matter of finding your “niche”, then unlocking your unique talents…and finding it is the most difficult part. You may not even be aware you have any special gifts. That is the “key” to success. As I mentioned, I found whatever little ones I had through a process of serendipity…and it’s probably my one and only talent! My writing, I mean. Once uncovered, it’s then a question of building on it and maximizing it. Maria Callas, the opera singer with “a voice like an angel” put a great deal of effort into maximizing her talent. Sometimes a phenomenol talent, like a Juan Manuel Fangio*, Jim Clark or Ayrton Senna soars above all others; but in most cases it’s the effort and total dedication put in to make the most of one’s natural talents, that puts an individual into the realm of a superstar – someone who is on a different level, a cut above the best of the rest, us ‘mere mortals’.
* Fangio won the World Driver’s Championship five times.
One can sometimes substitute hard work, training, experience and strategy for flair. Nice word that ‘flair’. Could be a girl’s name. Some detectives are like “Mr Plod”, while a few sleuths have the natural insight of a Sherlock Holmes. Most others have to get results through hard detailed work in uncovering cases. I don’t yet know whether I’m a “natural” writer or a methodical plodder, a “gatherer and passer-onner of useless information” through a great deal of effort. Perhaps only time will tell! I might have mentioned before (once, twice or ten times) that this manuscript has been written for anyone: from the most lowly amateur to the real ‘pros’ in the sporting world. So no matter how lowly your abilities, make the most of them.
As I mentioned already, a positive attitude to life is all-important. A positive attitude says that your natural talent can be maximized. It also says that without further effort, natural talent will be wasted. I do like repeating myself: for emphasis primarily and as a sign of encroaching senility too. Sometimes persistent effort alone won’t succeed in getting you to the top – only sheer talent will do that… together with consistent effort to keep you at “the top of the tree”.
Never mind – JUST TRY TO IMPROVE yourself and simply DO YOUR BEST at all times.
Say: “I WILL UNTIL…”

INTRODUCTORY COMMENTS
Here are some thoughts I’ve collected (instead of stamps or bottle-tops) and jotted down recently in my “little grey book”. Some from authors unknown, and others mine, which may form part of a new work, true stories on HOPE and SPIRIT. These notes form part of a new manuscript, which I may name ‘BEYOND THE RAINBOW’

THE MAGIC OF BELIEVING – THE POWER OF THOUGHT ENERGY (FROM INSPIRATIONAL BOOKS – PART THREE)
INTRODUCTION:
Craig has been studying and researching the human mind, the “last unexplored frontier” for the past decade and he is currently “working” on the connection (overlap) between mind and spirit, the relationship between psychology (science of the mind) and the spiritual world, God. A fascinating subject!
Author’s Note:
This old article (in point form) is based on an excellent motivational, up-lifting and inspiring book ‘THE MAGIC OF BELIEVING’ by a very “down-to-earth and practical man”(definitely not me!), Claude Bristol (written in the “thirties”). I am sharing the contents of this work in the spirit of encouraging and hopefully even inspiring those people, who really want to achieve their fullest potentials to read this classic book, BELIEVE…and surprise themselves what happens.
Thank you sincerely, Mr Bristol for sharing your practical insight, words of wisdom and especially inspiration, which I’m passing on in the form of this series of articles from my notes taken from your book.

USE THE MIRROR TECHNIQUE FOR RELEASING THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND :
Develop a “money consciousness”. Think wealth. Get the picture of what you want and keep telling yourself that you are going to get it. See yourself actually doing the things you visualise and it will work out; because every thought held constantly and persistently sooner or later materialises.
Every great mass movement in history from religious to military has come about through one individual, whose flaming belief in his own cause gave him the power to convert thousands of others. Enthusiasm is very contagious and can readily be transmitted to others, if one is bursting with it.
Repeat key words to yourself. Keep telling yourself that you are going to be an outstanding success and that nothing in this world is going to stop you.
Eyes are “windows of the soul”.
Heed and trust your intuitions. Order the subconscious mind to bring you the answer to your problem. ACT on the answer immediately. The subconscious is the key to unlock the door that opens on the roadway, which will lead to the goal of your desire(s).
Have a plan of action. Be specific in KNOWING what you want.
Mental picture + ACTION = SUCCESS .
How to project your thoughts:
Man can bring into materialisation anything that he can conceive mentally. You have that inner spark within; but it must be fanned, until the fire is of white-hot intensity and it must be constantly stoked, which you do by adding ideas…ideas + action.
Emerson: “The only way to have a friend is to be one.”
The thing we get back is a reflection of what we project mentally, ie. life is a mirror.

The basic law of reciprocity. Take the Initiative
“Man is heir to the wisdom of the ages found within the covers of great books.” Knowledge is power only when put to use. Avoid associating with negative people.
The longer you put off a problem, the greater it becomes.
Learn to make decisions (good ones). All great men are men of quick decisions, which flows from their intuition, their accumulated knowledge and previous experience.
The effects of emotionalised thinking. The power of suggestion. In all cases it is the individuals belief, that determines the success of the individual’s method of cure. When transmitted by auto-suggestion to the patient’s own subconscious mind, where it becomes effective.
The Soul:
Dualism of soul and body – both are fundamentally different, yet the two in a sense are unified and interact.
Don’t let life break you; make your own “breaks”!”
There is certainly something, call it a power, God, or anything you wish, which is always there to sustain us in times of need. I’ve never seen it fail – “an indomitable human spirit”.
All the great things in this world, have been done by men and women who were dreamers and believers in their dreams coming true. Develop a spirit and determination to get things done through great belief.
Famous American psychologist, William James said that belief creates its verification in fact; it affords unmistakable proof that often events are influenced by our very desires.
The power of suggestion working in the individual to make a prophecy a reality – one that finally produced a certain outcome. The law of expectancy (positive).
The formula for success (in any endeavour):
An idea (good), singleness of purpose and utmost belief.
Develop a spirit of NEVER QUITTING. The great source of inspiration comes from the subconscious mind. Learn how to tap the resources of the “sub”. When you learn to draw on your subconscious mind powers, there’s really no limit to what you can accomplish.
Hold a picture in your mind what you desire to achieve. Develop an actual mental picture (the technique of visualisation). Even write down your goals. In this domain lie the seed of genius.
It’s there available to you, just waiting to be tapped and expressed by anyone who knows how to get at it. However, there’s no substitute for hard work.
Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe – the story obsessed her and literally “wrote itself”.
She insisted that it was God who wrote this classic work.
The subconscious is much more than intuition, as it possesses great forces through application of the power of dynamic believing – seeds. The more you call on these resources, the more they are placed at your disposal. It’s all a matter of believing and of co-operation between the two minds, working “in synch”.
*
It’s one’s BELIEF THAT MAKES THINGS HAPPEN..
because firm beliefs lead to ACTIONS (even small ones at first, but one step leads to another…and another).
What we think about or contemplate develops into reality.
All a person has to do is to believe, earnestly and sincerely, that such a power of mind exists and then conscientiously apply the science. When one starts tapping the unconscious mind, your own and others, the bricks fall into place as though by magic.
Explore that last dark continent, the human mind.
Powerful forces locked in your mind can turn desire into reality! Learn to release them in this extraordinary book by Claude Bristol. You need a mental attitude of expectancy, concentration of thought and enthusiasm for the desired results. The “luck” factor came about from a determined mind – a combination of visualising, concentrated thought, willing and believing. There is evidence that with concentrated thought, expectancy and great BELIEF you’ll astound yourself with amazing results in your relationships… and your life.
Just BELIEVE!

THE MAGIC OF BELIEVING – THE POWER OF THOUGHT ENERGY (PART TWO)
INTRODUCTION:
“Deep within man dwell those slumbering powers; Thought is the blossom; language the bud; action the fruit behind it” |
|
![]() |
Submitter’s Note: Craig has been studying and researching the human mind, the “last unexplored frontier” for the past decade and he is currently “working” on the connection (overlap) between mind and spirit, the relationship between psychology (science of the mind) and the spiritual world, God. A fascinating subject!
This article (in point form) is based on an excellent motivational,
up-lifting and inspiring book ‘THE MAGIC OF BELIEVING’ by Claude Bristol (written in the “thirties”). I am sharing the contents of this work in the spirit of
encouraging and hopefully even inspiring those people, who really
want to achieve their fullest potentials to read this classic book, BELIEVE…and surprise themselves what happens.
Thank you sincerely, Mr Bristol for sharing your practical insight, words of wisdom and especially inspiration, which I’m passing on in the form of this series of articles from my notes taken from your book.
Powerful forces locked in your mind can turn desire into reality!
Learn to release them in this extraordinary book.
Just BELIEVE!

Perhaps this works like an electrical vibration
that sets the law of attraction into operation.
The belief changes the tempo of the mind or thought frequency. Like a huge magnet, it draws the subconscious forces into play, changing your whole aura and affecting everything about you…and often people and subjects at great distances. It then brings startling results – results you never dreamed possible.
There are countless references to the principle in the Bible.
What is the Subconscious Mind?
The best results in life are obtained by close harmony between the conscious and subconscious minds. The desire for success needs to be present in the conscious mind.
It works even when you are relaxing or sleeping. You wake up with the problem solved whilst sleeping. The judgement of the subconscious mind, which represents inherited instincts and the accumulation of experience is virtually infallible.
Just as the conscious mind is the source of thought, so the subconscious is the source of power. It’s a memory vault and gives a person strength, courage and faith in themselves. It’s a powerful sending and receiving station. A link with the spiritual world – past, present and future. In brief, the subconscious mind embodies the feeling and wisdom of the past, the awareness and knowledge of the present and the thought and vision of the future. It perceives by intuition; thus warning us of approaching danger.
“The subconscious mind will not take the trouble to work for those who do not believe in it.” Make it serve you;
SEE yourself as already successful. Continue to believe in the power and wisdom of the subconscious mind.
Then when you look back, you will see how the things you were called upon to do all formed a logical line of events, the last of which was your final arriving – the reward of your sincerest hopes and desires – your own triumphant personal success.
*
SUGGESTION IS POWER – through raising our EXPECTATIONS.
It’s the act of believing that is the starting force or generating power that leads to successful accomplishment.
The power of auto-suggestion. Once a belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen.
Man’s mind becomes grooved to a certain pattern (like Germany and Japan before WWII). The power of repeated suggestion
is even mentioned even in the Bible (Genesis 30: 36-43).
The indomitable human spirit.
William James, father of modern psychology in America, declared that often our faith (belief) in advance of a doubtful undertaking is the only thing that can assure its successful occasion.
“Success or failure in business is caused more by mental attitudes even than by mental capacities.”
“As we think and believe, so we are.”
King Soloman: “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”
– the Bible
The subconscious mind always brings to reality what it is led to believe.
Visualise – “hold the picture” in your head.
“Where there is no vision, the people perish.”
– the Bible
One just has to believe; this works through intensified thought or mental picture making. “I realised a long time ago that a belief, which does not spring from a conviction in the emotions is no belief at all.”
– Evelyn Scott, American author (1893-1963).
“We influence events by very great desires.”
Our thoughts determine our carriage (posture).
Shakespeare: “Assume a virtue, if you have it not.”
Dr Emil Coue, French doctor declared that imagination was a much stronger force than will-power. When in conflict, the imagination always wins.
Charles Fourier, the French philosopher of more than a century and a half ago once declared that “the future of the world would grow out of the brain of man – shaped, controlled and directed by the desires and passions by which men are moved”.
There are comparatively few men with great desires – most people are content to fill tiny niches in their lives.
DESIRE is the motivating force of life itself – the keener, the more urgent the desire, the sooner its communication.
Two opposing thoughts (as a positive and a negative) cannot fill the same space at the same time in the human mind.
The subconscious mind will respond to the vibrations of the thoughts that are strongest in you.
Close the door on yesterday, as we live TODAY. Give your audience the BEST that is in you (my writing aim). There is a theory that the subconscious mind controls our age. It’s the constant and determined effort that breaks down all resistance and sweeps away all obstacles. Repetition of thoughts – the “tip tapping” impresses it on your subconscious mind and on the mind (sub) of others.
SNIOP = “don’t be susceptible to the negative influences of other people.”
To end off, a few thoughts in summary…
Whatever we fix our thoughts upon or steadily focus our imagination upon, that is what we attract.
Everything starts with THOUGHT – the source (rich) of ideas.
Then we need to ACT upon them.
Because “faith without action is dead.”
Firmly believe in the power of believing, work hard with passion, be patient and see “impossibilities become possibilities, the stair-case to your wildest dreams“.
Shared by Craig Lock (“Information and Inspiration Distributor, Writer for Self Empowerment, Incorrigible Encourager and People-builder”)
William James once wrote, “Faith is the pillar of strength that allows man to achieve the impossible, reach the unattainable and solve the unfathomable.”
“God creates us with different gifts. Each one of us comes into the world with a different collection of life circ”The world we see that seems so insane is the result of a belief system that is not working. To perceive the world differently, we must be willing to change our belief system, let the past slip away, expand our sense of now, and dissolve the fear in our minds.”umstances that often severely challenge us, things that give us joy and in expressing our talents allow us to bless the people, the world around us.”

Most religions of the world (but especially Christianity) are based upon principles of psychology… and especially the powerful principle of FAITH (“God turns the impossible into the possible”). There is a golden thread running through all the teachings and makes them work for all who genuinely accept and apply them; it helps them reach all their goals in life. True ??? That thread, in a word, is BELIEF. There’s genuine magic in believing. Study books of greatness and inspiration; because as we learn, we grow (in knowledge, as well as spiritually). It’s a journey of exploration and personal growth.
See the law of suggestion (auto-suggestion) at work.
Most of history’s greatest achievements have been accomplished not by the most talented, but by the people who were willing to take on great risks and challenges and see them through. And that happens only by believing…and then sustaining that belief over a period of time. And ALL of us can develop belief, yet few people know HOW.
“You can become the unique person that it is in you to become; but only if you resist the urge to conform to the images others hold of you. You can turn all your potential into reality, only if you are willing to DREAM…and BELIEVE.”

This concept is understood by few and used by even less people. I am convinced any sincere person can reach any heights he or she desires. There is a wealth of spirit in YOU. Old Latin proverb: “Believe you have it and you have it.” Belief is the motivating factor that enables you to reach your goal.
Believe it… then you’ll SEE it!
Make success your dominant thought. Whatever is your dominant thought will end up happening (through controlled FOCUS, like a laser-beam). So you need to put it “out there” and everything will follow. Lift yourself up to possibilities (endless). Keep on believing, even though there are always challenges and knock-backs. Always really believe that your vision is going to come to fruition…one bright sunny day!

Can man project his thoughts, even at great distances into other minds (mental telepathy)?
The most important advance in the next generation will be in the vast unknown of the human mind – dealing with the spiritual, ie. thought. Psychology is the science of the mind.
Persistence brings confidence and a continued right mental attitude followed by consistent action will bring success. Know the formula. It is mind power that has built empires.
Use the technique only for GOOD – to better yours and others lives.
THOUGHT:
Thought is a terrific force with unlimited powers.
RW Emerson: “Thought is the ancestor of our every action.”
Our world is governed by thought. Buddha: “All that we are is the result of what we have thought.”
The secret of success lies not without, but within the thoughts of man. History is filled with accounts of how thought has made weak men strong and strong men weak…and evidence of this is evident all around us in everyday living.
What you exhibit outwardly you are inwardly. You are the product of your own thoughts. “What you believe yourself to be, you are.”
Your body is the garden, whilst your mind and will are the gardeners.
Thought is the original source of all wealth, success, material gain, all great discoveries and inventions…and of ALL achievement. Without it there’d be no empires built. A man’s thoughts make or break him. Shakespeare: “There is nothing good or bad; but thinking makes it so.”
Draw on the great source of power that lies within each one of us.
We become what we contemplate, what we think about most. Everything is within – the mind is the SOURCE of all POWER.
Man secures the gold of the spirit, when he finds himself.
Edison said that ‘ideas come from space’. God??? (another “heavy” topic for discussion, there craig with your bright spark friend, Andy)
The great ancient Greek physician, Paracelsus: “The human spirit is so great a thing that no-one can express it. Faith must strengthen the imagination, for faith establishes the will.”
*
The Keys to Success:
The first step on the road to success:
Know exactly WHAT you want out of life.
Then DEFINE it!
Hard work alone will not bring success; our hands are designed to be helping the brain.
DESIRE (burning), an obsession helps ensure success in any endeavour. (Personally, I feel we need to have balance in our lives).
Ensure your thoughts and aims are co-ordinated.
Make your energy concentrated and applied without “let-up” (continuous). Then channelled into focused direction.
*
There is a big difference between NEED and a DESIRE.
All-consuming thoughts can be bad, as one needs balance in our lives. It becomes more real with our thinking and adding flavour (intensity) through our imaginations, ie. the technique of visualisation.
“Thought attracts that upon which it is directed.”
It then sinks into our consciousness – the depth depends on the constancy, intensity and power of your thoughts.
Everything that exists is vibration???
As evident in “the healing touch of Jesus’s hand”.
Prayer and meditation operate through this principle, as “focussed energy”, like a lasar-beam.
“Creative force comes only when there is a completely rounded-out thought, when there is a fully developed mental picture, or when the imagination can visualise the attainment of our ambition and see in our mind a picture of the object we desire – a house, a car, a radio, etc – just as if we already possessed them.”
To be effective, you have to really BELIEVE that your prayers will be answered. Different creeds and cults work as a result of the firm beliefs of the individual: The “Magic of Believing”.
*
The Subconscious Mind:
It’s the “still small voice within”.
Supreme Intelligence or Universal Mind, the subconscious or “essence of life” : the limits of its powers are unknown – it never sleeps, warns us of impending danger and can perform what are sometimes called ‘miracles‘. The subconscious acts primarily on its own initiative, but there are times when its activities appear to be the result of influences from outside.
Get in contact with your subconscious mind and you can achieve wealth, power, fame, as well as cure physical ailments and solve countless human problems. And its power is for YOU to use. Just BELIEVE in its power and put it to work using the techniques or systems mentioned in the book.
Inventions, great musical compositions, poetry, fiction, writings (like this work) and all other ideas for original accomplishment come from the subconscious. Bricks fall into place, like a “magical hand”. A pattern of co-incidences is a working out of a pattern you started with your own weaving.
The great power of the subconscious is one of the most formidable forces in shaping and controlling our lives. Perhaps it works like an electrical vibration sets the law of attractioninto operation.
Sustained thought or fixed mental picture – go “into the silence”. Make mental pictures through the imagination – visualise. This comes about as a result of belief – a strange power that causes miracles to happen. It’s a deep-seated belief – “heart and soul”. a spiritual force. Know with every fibre of your being that you WILL achieve your desires.
Remember that success is a process and your life is a “work in progress”; so take one day at a time in an ‘attitude of gratitude‘.
In a “nutshell”…

YOUR spirit will help makes the lives of others easier by illuminating others paths.
For this light is our humanity, the spirit of God, truth, wisdom, beauty and especially love…

INTRODUCTION
In this work we’ll explore the link between the mind and spirituality, by taking a brief look at the relationship between the psychological and the higher dimension of the spiritual realm. This work is a practical guide to help you make the most of your circumstances, through utilising the amazing power of the human mind.
I hope that it will help you, as much as it has helped me in writing my journal (keeping a daily record of my thoughts and progress). If I’m on the wrong track, I’ve really made an ass of myself!
This work is a practical look at the steps to take to see one’s wildest dreams turn into reality…through making the most of the amazing powers of the human mind.
I have brought in some spiritual aspects, as I believe we are all on a spiritual journey in an “earthly existence” (and the spiritual is just another and higher dimension to psychological principles and truths of life). We are spiritual beings; because we humans do not live solely by instinct, as we have the POWER to make CHOICES in our lives – to make them better and more comfortable, or to help others in some way ( as we live at a higher plane than animals…at least most of us!).
So I’ll be sharing some philosophical principles in life, based on MY beliefs.
1. Firstly, ask yourself this vitally important question:
WHO AM I?
This is the “core of you and the real essence of our being”. What excites you and makes you “tick-tock-clock”. It is not WHAT I am (in other words what you DO or a living), eg truck-driver, laywer, sales clerk, nurse, accountant (oh dear!) and so on.
It is father, husband, wife, provider, encourager, carer, and so on.
Secondly…
2. What “fires you up” with passion?
These are what brings you most pleasure, activities that you are best at, ie. your God-given gifts. I love writing to “touch” and hopefully help in encouraging others to be all that they can become and so live more joyful and fruitful lives.
For most people their jobs (= “just on broke”) are merely a means to the end – paying the bills and earning a living, but the means usually becomes the end in itself. That is how most people define themselves, eg homemaker. Incidentally, if you are really stuck in the deep brown stuff, our greatest problem is also God’s greatest opportunity – to work miracles in our lives. I truly believe that!

3. Ask yourself this important question:
What can I do to make my life more SIGNIFICANT?
and finally
4. What is your PURPOSE – your reason for taking up space on the planet?
This is closely related to your concept of the meaning of life.
For example, many people think they believe that life is about
sharing their blessings of time, talents and money with others. Great!
Everyone has unique gifts and we are all different.
I truly believe my purpose is to be an encourager and “bridge-builder” through the power of words. Anyway what “normal” job would be suitable for someone like me!
All one needs to do is follow ones heart and TRUST fully, taking one step at a time in total faith…then one step leads naturally to the next.
*
Now, HOW TO GET THERE?
Firstly,
Analyse where you are in life and how you got there.
Oh well, that’s another book!
MEDITATE
This state provides clarity of thinking through drawing on intuition, the “still calm voice within”. I find it helps me greatly in choosing the path ahead, the “road less travelled”: to give me an opportunity of clear thinking and total peace of mind on where to put my mental and physical energies. To know where you want to go, you first have to know where you are standing on the “map of life”.
And thank goodness we are all unique creations wanting different things out of life!
So
Ask yourself…
What do I most want out of Life?
PRAY, if you do that. Prayer operates through the subconscious mind connecting to God, “Infinite Intelligence”, the Creator of the Universe, “Higher Self”, Divine Wisdom. You are drawing on a ‘Higher Dimension’ we can’t (nor are we supposed to) understand. The subconscious mind is your gateway to unlimited power.
Write down a mission statement for your life. What is your main PURPOSE for being on this planet? Not just to take up space or inhale oxygen, please!
Who do I want to really Be?
It all starts with DESIRE (intense/burning).
The first step is making a DECISION:
I really want to be a writer, who uplifts and inspires people to reach for their ultimate dreams and become all they can possibly be.
“My dream is trying to make some difference through encouraging and helping other people to fulfil their potentials , to reach for and even realise their dreams.” Crazy???
This is the path I KNOW that I am headed to achieve my destiny, even though “logical/rational” (and some “well-meaning” acquaintances have said it’s impossible from here in “Sleepy Hollow” near the bottom of the world). I took the DECISION to work really hard, follow my heart and not my mind (logic) and just TRUST the universe for a favourable outcome to my endeavours.
I truly believe God, Infinite Spirit, the Ultimate Designer of the Universe, Creator of Life itself, has a plan or EVERY life, but it’s up to each individual to FIND it themselves. Once discovered, then we have to take the decision to follow that path, “come what may”. I know its scary, but it DOES work out! Life is all about CHOICES…and making the right ones for YOU in total FAITH.
In so doing, I believe we glorify our Creator. The purpose of life is expressing our individual talents for the good of humanity and I believe, God is happiest when we can express our love back to Him/Her/It. ( I CHOOSE to think that, whereas my good analytical deep-thinking friend thinks “God doesn’t care a jot , but just observes us)
“Every man has his own destiny; the only imperative is to follow it, no matter where it leads him.”
– Henry Miller
“The task ahead of you can always be overcome by the power within you…and the seemingly difficult path ahead of you is never as steep with the great spirit that lies within you.”
– craig
“Our talents are our gifts from God… but what we do with them are our gifts TO God.”
*
Here are some recent notes from my journal (as I believe my path illustrates the practical principles that I’m writing about in this piece…
I DECIDED to put my main FOCUS into studying the human mind and writing this account (“hence”- nice word eh?) this journal. I am just TRUSTING (unlike a ‘net’ colleague, who purely look at the financial rewards for the effort) and “some sane” acquaintances who say, “get another proper job”. I believe GIVE FREELY, without expecting, then you’ll be surely blessed.
Signed off with an attitude of GRATITUDE that I love my fascinating “work” and am living the perfect life (“crazy” to others) for ME.
Thursday 8th April 2004:
My goal or the Easter long weekend to is work on this manuscript and read more on the unlimited powers of the human mind (don’t worry about mundane domestic issues, like housekeeping, gardening and mowing the lawn). Who cares about those things!
So made the decision to continue along this path.
The four “D’s”:
It all starts with:
* DESIRE (intense, burning and passionate)
What do you really want out of life?
What is your DEFINITE PURPOSE?
* Make the DECISION to go for it and neglect boring domestic chores, like mowing lawns.
In order to get there, you’ll need to develop
* DISCIPLINE (self) – usually in big doses.
(I’m typing this on a “wild” Saturday evening in “Sleepy Hollow” near the ends of the earth).
CHAPTER ONE:
DEVELOP A SENSE OF PURPOSE OR YOUR LIFE:
What are your deepest DESIRES and VALUES?
2. SET YOUR PERSONAL GOALS:
Make the DECISION to go for your deepest desires, your wildest dreams.
Are you honestly prepared to make all the sacrifices, no matter how long it takes to “get there”? Man was made to create through the amazing powers of the human imagination. What do you like CREATING most? I believe our Creator is happiest when we are our “Authentic Selves” doing what we are “destined to do”.
What is a miracle? I don’t think a miracle an only be defined as an occurrence violating natural laws. In fact, I see my situation as a miracle, considering how far I’ve come and where I am now in my life with my resources.
I truly believe my calling is building bridges through the net at this stage and still believe my path and vision lies in electronic publishing.
TOOK THE DECISION: WRITING (and web publishing) IS MY MAIN PATH in the future – encouraging others through my writings online + people in the “real world”. So made the personal decision to be an “incorrigible encourager” (and an “information and inspiration distributer”).
Make the DECISION:
to FOCUS on your desired outcomes. EXPECT a favourable outcome to your endeavours.
“Blessed are those who expect little… because they will receive little.”
I’d better expect “heaps” then from my endeavours.
Never mind, I’ll just work steadily and see what happens. What the Universe brings forth, but I love the uncertainty of the journey anyway!
“Be bold and unseen forces come to one’s aid!”
The key, I believe is INTENT – the SPIRIT with which you undertake any course of action. ACT. Just DO, without focussing overly on results. Of course, the hardest thing is getting the right balance between objectives (results) and just doing for the pleasure.
(This will depend on things, like your personal needs at the time, mind-set, temperament, outlook on life, attitude – whether optimistic or pessimistic, etc.).
As the sportspeople say, “get in the zone” and “go with the flow”. I find I get my best results when I just do my very best at a particular task or goal, work steadily and consistently each day, taking one step at a time.
Stop striving and simply “let go and let God.”
…and that’s what I’m doing greatly enjoying writing this “work”.
THINK, like a child. Children have incredible imaginations. What were the dreams you had as a child (before the responsibilities and “burdens” of adult maturity)? NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE!
As Walt Disney once said…
“It’s kinda fun to do the impossible.”
We CAN/we WILL do it with God’s help.
Keep a POSITIVE ATTITUDE at all times, when you encounter seemingly insurmountable obstacles (and you WILL),
Trust your intuition/God.
Do not wait! The time will never be ‘just right’.
“Start where you stand and work with whatever tools you may have at your command
and better tools will be found as you go along.”
– Napoleon Hill (author of the classic work ‘Think and Grow Rich‘)
“There can be no shadows unless there is a sun.”
Pray about the right path for YOU.
TAKE ACTION (massive).
ACT “as if” you are already successful and visualise “arriving there”. Crazy!
The future does not have to be the same as the past. Say, “everything in my life has prepared me for this journey”.
Follow the Laws of the Universe: ie. the Law of:
1. Cause and Effect
2. Attraction (= Gratitude)
3. Creativity
and
4. the Power (Magic) of Belief
“Work as if everything depended upon YOU and TRUST (and pray) as if everything depended on God.”
– anon
Take one step towards God (or Allah, the Life Force, or whatever you understand a higher being to mean to you) and God takes three steps towards you.
Have “heaps of patience”. Your desired results may take months or even years to materialise. Lord, please give me patience… but I want it right NOW!.
What would you DO if you knew you could not fail? Embrace the journey.
Then watch “miracles” happen in your life, as you one day achieve your most earnest desires.
Just do your very best to make A DIFFERENCE in this amazing world and have great FUN along the way. That to me is true success*.
* (like loving a lot, laughing a lot and having good friends).
This path will be used as a testimony to the unlimited power and love of God, our Creator, who know’s each one of us intimately (and consequently our unique purposes) and consequently what’s best for YOU…
so love the magical journey of life.
Happy travelling in finding your true purpose for being on this planet,
ie God’s plan for YOUR life.
How much music can you make out of your life, with the time you have left?
“totally unmusical” Craig Lock (“Incorrigible Encourager and People-builder”)
April 2004
“The future really does belong to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
– Eleanor Roosevelt
“Man is mind
and evermore he takes the tool of thought
and, shaping what he wills,
brings forth a thousand joys,
a thousand ills.
He thinks in secret
and it comes to pass –
Environment is but his looking glass.”
– anon

“Try not to become a person of success but rather try to become a person of value.”
– Einstein
(Perhaps that, together with “significance” is a true definition of success!)
“I believe that God creates us with different gifts; so that in life’s journey each one of us, experiences challenges (often severe and our attitude will depend on how we get through them), things that give us joy and using our gifts allow us to bless the world around us.”

Chapter Six: VISIONS AND IDEALS
Columbus cherished a vision of another world, and he discovered it. Copernicus fostered the vision of a multiplicity of worlds and a wider universe, and he revealed it. Buddha beheld the vision of a spiritual world of stainless beauty and perfect peace, and he entered into it.
They do not see the trials and failures and struggles which these men have voluntarily encountered in order to gain their experience. They have no knowledge of the sacrifices they have made, of the undaunted efforts they have put forth, of the faith they have exercised, that they might overcome the apparently insurmountable, and realize the vision of their heart. They do not know the darkness and the heartaches; they only see the light and joy, and call it “luck”; do not see the long and arduous journey, but only behold the pleasant goal, and call it “good fortune”; do not understand the process, but only perceive the result, and call it “chance.”

Chapter Seven: SERENITY
Wisdom Leads to Peace of Mind
“As man develops a right understanding, and sees more and more clearly the internal relations of things by the action of cause and effect, he ceases to fuss and fume and worry and grieve, and remains poised, steadfast, serene. The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater is his success, his influence, his power for good. Even the ordinary trader will find his business prosperity increase as he develops a greater self-control and equanimity, for people will always prefer to deal with a man whose demeanor is strongly equable.”
“The calm man, having learned how to govern himself, knows how to adapt himself to others; and they, in turn, reverence his spiritual strength, and feel that they can learn of him and rely upon him. The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater is his success, his influence, his power for good.”
That exquisite poise of character which we call serenity is the flowering of life, the fruitage of the soul. It is precious as wisdom, more to be desired than even fine gold.. How insignificant mere money-seeking looks in comparison with a serene life – a life that dwells in the ocean of Truth, beneath the waves, beyond the reach of tempests, in the Eternal Calm!
Finally, James Allen shares a powerful call to ACTION… because (“In action is thought made material, ie changed into something physical” – my good friend, Dr Andy Eastcott, former micro-biologist).
“Keep your hand firmly upon the helm of thought. In the bark of your soul reclines the commanding Master; He does but sleep; wake Him. Self-control is strength; Right Thought is mastery; Calmness is power. Say unto your heart, ‘Peace, be still!'”
A SPIRIT OF PEACE and SERENITY TO YOU ALL
Live at peace with yourself Look for the best in others and Be grateful for the wonderful gift of life
Give to others, laugh and have some fun along the way
Walk one step at a time with the light given you.
Then be all that you are capable of being by “tinking da highest torts” (thinking the highest thoughts)!.
