A LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS

Jesus came into the world to show us what God is like. Jesus reveals what God, The Father is like… and YOU can (and choose to) reveal (in society’s eyes) what Jesus is like. That’s His expectation. You represent Jesus…today.

Jesus had a uniquely close and intimate relationship with God, the Father

(“I am what God is like”)

see Matthew 11: 25-30 *

*  a defining verse in Jesus’ ministry (together with John 3:16,17)

You are the light of the world… Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
– Matthew 5: 14-16 (NKJV)

HOW do you do that?

In other words, how to live your life by following the example of Jesus Christ?
* help others
* help heal and comfort the wounded of society and our own wounds will be healed
* be hospitable and kind
* make people feel included and that they belong somewhere

* listen to peoples concerns and worries – really care

* remember, it’s not your achievements that count, but the difference you make in people’s lives

* learn and grow (continually) along life’s journey
“Giant strides start with small steps”

Just do what is right and (like a moth) be drawn to that light
“Love guides us into holiness.”

You can be a light shining in the darkness of the world.

Shine your own bright light on humanity!

The Lord’s Prayer

WRITTEN BY A 15 yr. OLD SCHOOL KID

Who got an A+ for this entry!

The Lord’s Prayer

Is not allowed in most

Public schools in America anymore

Because the word ‘God’ is mentioned…..

A kid in WINNIPEG wrote the attached

NEW School prayer:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If scripture now the class r ecites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That’s no offense; it’s a freedom scene..
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all..
In silence alone we must meditate,
God’s name is prohibited by the United States.
We’re allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks…
Guns are allowed, but Not the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the ‘unwed daddy,’ our Senior King.
It’s ‘inappropriate’ to teach right from wrong,
We’re taught that such ‘judgments’ do not belong..
We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles…
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It’s scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school’s a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
Amen
C.S. Lewis on Jesus Christ: Lord, Liar or Lunatic?
SUNrisechrist
“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: “I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept His claim to be God.” That is the one thing we must not say. A man who said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic–on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg–or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”
C.S. Lewis on Jesus Christ: Lord, Liar or Lunatic?
“God does work in amazing ways”
“What is impossible with man is possible with God.”
Submitter’s Thoughts:
I am fascinated by the life and immense spirit of Jesus, as well as the controversy and varying beliefs about this most written about “figure” in human history. So in my research for my latest Amazon book The Spirit of a True Champion: A Look into the Mind of Jesus Christ, I came across these thoughts of CS Lewis on the www, so thought I’d share. Is Jesus Christ a Legend, Lunatic, Liar, or Lord and GOD?
In his famous book Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis makes this statement, “A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic–on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg–or he would be the devil of hell. You must take your choice. Either this was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us.”
Jesus could only have been one of four things: a legend, a liar, a lunatic–or Lord and God. There is so much historical and archeological evidence to support his existence that every reputable historian agrees he was not just a legend. If Jesus were a liar, why would he die for his claim, when he could easily have avoided such a cruel death with a few choice words? And, if he were a lunatic, how did he engage in intelligent debates with his opponents or handle the stress of his betrayal and crucifixion while continuing to show a deep love for his antagonists? Christ said he was Lord and God. The evidence supports that claim.
(My thought, I need to study the above statement/claim in more depth…purely for myself)
Here are some of the key claims Jesus made about himself.
The Claims of Jesus
Christ claimed to live a sinless life
Jesus could look at a crowd of people angry at his claims to share God’s nature and ask, “Which of you can point to anything wrong in my life?” Even more amazing is that none of them could give a reply! No human being has ever lived a sinless life, except for Jesus Christ.
John 8:28-29 “So Jesus said, ‘When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know who I am and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me. The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.’”
John 8:46-47 “Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”
Jesus Christ claimed to be the ONLY way to God
Not one of several ways, but the one and only way. Not to teach the way, but to be the way to God. Nobody has ever made claims like that before and backed them, but Jesus did through his love, balanced life, and miracles.
John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me.”
Matthew 11:27 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
Note: No other world religious leader, such as Buddha, Confucius, or Mohammed ever made this claim.
Christ claimed to have shared the glory of God in Heaven
Jesus claimed to have pre-existed the people he spoke with. The apostle John–who shared bread with Jesus–wrote that Jesus was with God in the very beginning, and that “all things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being.” (John 1:1-5)
John 17:5 “And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.”
This is a claim distorted by groups like the Mormons or Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Jesus Christ claimed to be able to forgive sins
(my note : indirectly. Also see *)
One of the reasons that the Jewish leaders were so angry with Jesus was his continual practice of forgiving people’s sins. The religious leaders understood clearly that since sins were rebellion against God Himself, only God could forgive sins.
Luke 5:20-21 “When Jesus saw their faith, he said, ‘Friend, your sins are forgiven.’ The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, ‘Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?’”(emphasis: web author)
Luke 7:48-49 “Then Jesus said to her, ‘Your sins are forgiven.’ The other guests began to say among themselves, ‘Who is this who even forgives sins?’”
Christ claimed to be a Heavenly king
Luke 22:69 “But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God.”
Luke 23:1-3 “Then the whole assembly rose and led him off to Pilate. And they began to accuse him, saying, ‘We have found this man subverting our nation. He opposes payment of taxes to Caesar and claims to be Christ, a king.’ So Pilate asked Jesus, ‘Are you the king of the Jews?’ ‘Yes, it is as you say,’ Jesus replied.”
John 18:36-37 “Jesus said, ‘My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place.’ ‘You are a king, then!’ said Pilate. Jesus answered, ‘You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.’”
Christ claimed to be able to give everlasting life
Jesus didn’t just tell people how they could find everlasting life, or deepen their own life experience. He actually claimed to give life himself.
John 6:40 “For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”
John 6:47 “I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life.”
John 10:28-30 “I give [my followers] eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”
John 11:25 “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die…’”
Jesus claimed that he would die and come back to life
John 10:17 “Just as the Father knows me and I know the Father–and I lay down my life for the sheep. The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life–only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”
John 12:32-33 “‘But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.’ He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.”
John 16:16 “In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.”
Luke 18:31-33 “Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, ‘We are going up into Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. He will be handed over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him, spit on him, flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.’”
Christ claimed that he would return again to judge the world
* (my thought: Yet Jesus also claimed that only God could judge)
Matthew 24:27-30 “So as the lightening comes from the east and flashes to the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man… At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.”
Matthew 25:31-32 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep and the goats.”
Mark 14:61-62 “Again the high priest asked him, ‘Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?’ ‘I am,’ said Jesus. ‘And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.’”
C.S. Lewis was an amazing author and a brilliant man. Generally considered one of the brightest apologists of the 20th Century, Lewis has a uniquely practical approach to God and His ways. His supreme applicability and warm, casual tone of writing make reading most of his works a pleasure, while his fascinatingly simple approach to big issues and fiercely-debated topics makes his works worthy of both reading and re-reading.
His supreme applicability and warm, casual tone of writing make reading most of his works a pleasure, while his fascinatingly simple approach to big issues and fiercely-debated topics makes his works worthy of both reading and re-reading.
C.S. Lewis’ Take on God, Jesus, and the Universe
The way it is
“The present state of things is this…the natural life in each of us is something self-centered, something that wants to be petted and admired, to take advantage of other lives, to exploit the whole universe. And especially it wants to be left to itself: to keep well away from anything better or stronger or higher than it, anything that might make it feel small. It is afraid of the light and air of the spiritual world, just as people who have been brought up to be dirty are afraid of a bath. And in a sense, it is quite right. It knows that if the spiritual life gets hold of it, all its self-centeredness and self-will are going to be killed and it is ready to fight tooth and nail to avoid that.” –Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis
Who Jesus is & why He matters
“…Among the…Jews there suddenly turns up a man who goes about talking as if He was God. He claims to forgive sins. He says He has always existed. He says He is coming to judge the world at the end of time. Now let us get this clear. Among Pantheists, like the Indians, anyone might say that he was a part of God, or one with God: there would be nothing very odd about it. But this man, since He was a Jew, could not mean that kind of God. God, in their language, meant the Being outside the world Who had made it and was infinitely different from anything else. And when you have grasped that, you will see that what this man said was, quite simply, the most shocking thing that has ever been uttered by human lips.
One part of the claim tends to slip past us unnoticed because we have heard it so often that we no longer see what it amounts to. I mean the claim to forgive sins: any sins. Now unless the speaker is God, this is really so preposterous as to be comic. We can all understand how a man forgives offences against himself. You tread on my toe and I forgive you, you steal my money and I forgive you. But what should we make of a man, himself un-robbed and un-trodden on, who announced that he forgave you for treading on other men’s toes and stealing other men’s money? Asinine fatuity is the kindest description we should give of his conduct. Yet this is what Jesus did. He told people that their sins were forgiven, and never waited to consult all the other people whom their sins had undoubtedly injured. He unhesitatingly behaved as if He was the party chiefly concerned; the person chiefly offended in all offences. This makes sense only if He really was the God whose laws are broken and whose love is wounded in every sin. In the mouth of any speaker who is not God, these words would imply what I can only regard as a silliness and conceit unrivalled by any other character in history.
Yet (and this is the strange, significant thing) even His enemies, when they read the Gospels, do not usually get the impression of silliness and conceit. Still less do unprejudiced readers. Christ says that He is ‘humble and meek’ and we believe Him; not noticing that, if He were merely a man, humility and meekness are the very last characteristics we could attribute to some of His sayings.
I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: ‘I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept His claim to be God.’ That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.” –Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis
The difference Jesus makes
“What are we to make of Jesus Christ? This question…has, in a sense, a frantically comic side. For the real reason is not what are we to make of Christ, but what is He to make of us? The picture of a fly sitting deciding what it is to make of an elephant has comic elements about it. But perhaps the questioner meant what are we to make of Him in the sense of “How are we to solve the historical problem set us by the recorded sayings and acts of this Man?” This problem is to reconcile two things. On the one hand you have got the almost generally admitted depth and sanity of His moral teaching, which is not very seriously questioned, even by those who are opposed to Christianity….
The other phenomenon is the quite appalling nature of this Man’s theological remarks. You all know what I mean, and I want rather to stress the point that the appalling claim which this Man seems to be making is not merely made at one moment of His career. There is, of course, the one moment which led to His execution. The moment at which the High Priest said to Him, “Who are you?” “I am the Anointed, the Son of the uncreated God, and you shall see Me appearing at the end of all history as the judge of the Universe.”….
On the one side clear, definite moral teaching. On the other, claims which, if not true, are those of a megalomaniac, compared with whom Hitler was the most sane and humble of men. There is no half-way house and there is no parallel in other religions. If you had gone to Buddha and asked him “Are you the son of Brahman?” he would have said, “My son, you are still in the vale of illusion.” If you had gone to Socrates and asked, “Are you Zeus?” he would have laughed at you. If you had gone to Mohammed and asked, “Are you Allah?” he would first have rent his clothes and the cut your head off. If you had asked Confucius, “Are you heaven?” I think he would have probably replied, “Remarks which are not in accordance with nature are in bad taste.” The idea of a great moral teacher saying what Christ said is out of the question. In my opinion, the only person who can say that sort of thing is either God or a complete lunatic suffering from that form of delusion which undermines the whole mind of man. If you think you are a poached egg, when you are looking for a piece of toast to suit you, you may be sane, but if you think you are God, there is no chance for you….
The things He says are very different from what any other teacher has said. Other say, “This is the truth about the Universe. This is the way you ought to go,” but He says, “I am the Truth, and the Way, and the Life.” He says, “No man can reach absolute reality, except through Me. Try to retain your own life and you will be inevitably ruined. Give yourself away and you will be saved.” He says, “If you are ashamed of Me, if, when you hear this call, you turn the other way, I also will look the other way when I come again as God without disguise. If anything whatever is keeping you from God and from Me, whatever it is, throw it away. If it is your eye, pull it out. If it is your hand, cut it off. If you put yourself first you will be last. Come to Me everyone who is carrying a heavy load, I will set that right. Your sins, are wiped out, I can do that. I am Re-birth, I am Life. Eat Me, drink Me, I am your food. And finally, do not be afraid, I have overcome the whole Universe.” That is the issue.” –God in the Dock, C.S. Lewis
Why this matters to YOU: The individuality of God’s love via Christ
God…has infinite attention to spare for each one of us. He does not have to deal with us in the mass. You are as much alone with Him as if you were the only being He had ever created. When Christ died, he died for you individually just a much as if you had been the only man in the world. –Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis
The change in the way things are
“When you are not feeling particularly friendly but know you ought to be, the best thing you can do, very often, is to put on a friendly manner, and behave as if you were a nicer person than you actually are. And in a few minutes, as we have all noticed, you will be really feeling friendlier than you were. Very often the only way to get a quality in reality is to start behaving as if you had it already.
Now, the moment you realize, “Here I am, dressing up as Christ,” it is extremely likely that you will see at once some way in which as that very moment the pretence could be made less of a pretence and more of a reality. You will find several things going on in your mind which would not be going on there if you were really a son of God. Well, stop them. Or you may not realize that, instead of saying your prayers, you ought to be downstairs writing a letter, or helping your wife to wash-up. Well, go do it.
You see what is happening. That Christ Himself, the Son of God, who is man (just like you) and God (just like His Father) is actually at your side and is already at that moment beginning to turn your pretence into a reality. This is not merely a fancy way of saying that your conscience is telling you what to do. If you simply ask your conscience, you get one result: if you remember that you are dressing up as Christ, you get a different one. There are lots of things which your conscience might not call definitely wrong (especially things in your mind) but which you will see at once you cannot go on doing if you are seriously trying to be like Christ. For you are not longer thinking simply about right and wrong: you are trying to catch the good infection from a Person. It is more like painting a portrait than like obeying a set of rules. And the odd thing is that while in one way it is harder than keeping rules, in another way it is far easier.
The real Son of God is at your side. He is beginning to turn you into the same kind of thing as Himself. He is beginning, so to speak, to inject His kind of life and thought…into you: beginning to turn the tin soldier into a live man. The part of you that does not like it is the part that is still tin.”–Mere Christianity: C.S. Lewis
When you first begin…
“In reality…it is God who does everything. We, at most, allow it to be done to us. In a sense you might even say it is God who does the pretending. The Three-Personal God [God as the Trinity], so to speak, sees before Him in fact a self-centered, greedy, grumbling, rebellious human animal. But He says, “Let us pretend that this is not a mere creature, but our Son. It is like Christ in so far as it is a Man, for He became Man. Let us pretend that it is also like Him in Spirit. Let us treat it as if it were what in fact it is not. Let us pretend in order to make the pretence into a reality.” God looks at you as if you were a little Christ. : Christ stands beside you to turn you into one. I daresay this idea of divine make-believe sounds rather strange at first. But, is it so strange really? Is not that how the high thing always raises the lower? A mother teaches her baby to talk by talking to it as if it understood long before it really does….” –Mere Christianity: C.S. Lewis
Is Jesus Christ a Legend, Lunatic, Liar, or Lord and GOD?
In his famous book Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis makes this statement, “A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic–on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg–or he would be the devil of hell. You must take your choice. Either this was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us.(emphasis: web author)”
Jesus could only have been one of four things: a legend, a liar, a lunatic–or Lord and God. There is so much historical and archaeological evidence to support his existence that every reputable historian agrees he was not just a legend. If Jesus were a liar, why would he die for his claim, when he could easily have avoided such a cruel death with a few choice words? And, if he were a lunatic, how did he engage in intelligent debates with his opponents or handle the stress of his betrayal and crucifixion while continuing to show a deep love for his antagonists? Christ said he was Lord and God. The evidence supports that claim.
Here are some of the key claims Jesus made about himself.
The Claims of Jesus
Christ claimed to live a sinless life
Jesus could look at a crowd of people angry at his claims to share God’s nature and ask, “Which of you can point to anything wrong in my life?” Even more amazing is that none of them could give a reply! No human being has ever lived a sinless life, except for Jesus Christ.
John 8:28-29 “So Jesus said, ‘When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know who I am and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me. The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.’”
John 8:46-47 “Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”
Jesus Christ claimed to be the ONLY way to God
Not one of several ways, but the one and only way. Not to teach the way, but to be the way to God. Nobody has ever made claims like that before and backed them, but Jesus did through his love, balanced life, and miracles.
John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me.”
My Comment (quick)
True , as Jesus’s concept of God, “The Father” (as was his relationship with “The Father” ) was unique to him, as was Muhammad’s concept of Allah was unique to him… and my concept of what is God is to me… and you can choose what God, Infinite/Ultimate Source means to you!). BTW the concept/term of God as “Father” (and having a “personal relationship” is unique to the Christian faith).
Matthew 11:27 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
Note: No other world religious leader, such as Buddha, Confucius, or Mohammed ever made this claim.
(My Comment:
As regards Jesus’s claim: “I and the Father are one.” Jesus had the ultimate intimate relationship with God, the Father. However, each ONE of us can be as close to Infinite Source as we want to (it will all depend upon our own beliefs and life experiences), as we all have a Spirit of God within us…as well as the immense power of choice: to live our lives depending on God, the Ground of All Being….to the degree we submit to a Higher Power…another dimension/realm”
“We are all earthly beings on a spiritual journey”… or is that meant to be the other way around?)
Christ claimed to have shared the glory of God in Heaven
Jesus claimed to have pre-existed the people he spoke with. The apostle John–who shared bread with Jesus–wrote that Jesus was with God in the very beginning, and that “all things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being.” (John 1:1-5)
John 17:5 “And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.”
This is a claim distorted by groups like the Mormons or Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Jesus Christ claimed to be able to forgive sins
One of the reasons that the Jewish leaders were so angry with Jesus was his continual practice of forgiving people’s sins. The religious leaders understood clearly that since sins were rebellion against God Himself, only God could forgive sins.
Luke 5:20-21 “When Jesus saw their faith, he said, ‘Friend, your sins are forgiven.’ The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, ‘Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?’”(emphasis: web author)
Luke 7:48-49 “Then Jesus said to her, ‘Your sins are forgiven.’ The other guests began to say among themselves, ‘Who is this who even forgives sins?’”
Christ claimed to be a Heavenly king
Luke 22:69 “But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God.”
Luke 23:1-3 “Then the whole assembly rose and led him off to Pilate. And they began to accuse him, saying, ‘We have found this man subverting our nation. He opposes payment of taxes to Caesar and claims to be Christ, a king.’ So Pilate asked Jesus, ‘Are you the king of the Jews?’ ‘Yes, it is as you say,’ Jesus replied.”
John 18:36-37 “Jesus said, ‘My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place.’ ‘You are a king, then!’ said Pilate. Jesus answered, ‘You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.’”
Christ claimed to be able to give everlasting life
Jesus didn’t just tell people how they could find everlasting life, or deepen their own life experience. He actually claimed to give life himself.
John 6:40 “For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”
John 6:47 “I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life.”
John 10:28-30 “I give [my followers] eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”
John 11:25 “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die…’”
Jesus claimed that he would die and come back to life
John 10:17 “Just as the Father knows me and I know the Father–and I lay down my life for the sheep. The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life–only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”
John 12:32-33 “‘But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.’ He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.”
John 16:16 “In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.”
Luke 18:31-33 “Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, ‘We are going up into Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. He will be handed over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him, spit on him, flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.’”
Christ claimed that he would return again to judge the world
Matthew 24:27-30 “So as the lightening comes from the east and flashes to the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man… At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.”
Matthew 25:31-32 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep and the goats.”
Mark 14:61-62 “Again the high priest asked him, ‘Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?’ ‘I am,’ said Jesus. ‘And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.’”
(My comment on the thoughts of CS Lewis: Is Jesus fully God revealed?
Why not contemplate, meditate on this “great” question, which has caused such division and enmity between peoples, cultures and civilizations for centuries. Or even better “ go directly to the Ultimate Source, The Ground of All Being (God, Allah) in prayer (perhaps even through Jesus as a conduit – “very easy and a nice chat”) and ask the question yourself of “The Father”. … and each one of us will get a different answer…because we are all unique with different beliefs and life experiences…which is great !
In brief, for me, Jesus, like our concept of God, the Creator) is what He means (or represents) to us…thus what we choose to make Him…
and I choose to expand my horizons….as widely as is “humanly” possible)
Is Jesus God?
IS JESUS GOD?
Here a few thoughts that came to me at 4.30am today 5th March 2012… so am sharing?
Can Jesus be “God” in human form?
This is one of the great questions puzzling so many people and what creates controversy between Christianity and Islam (and even among Christian “believers”)
Through his sheer enthusiasm and evangelic zeal, the teachings of St Paul regarding the “absolute” divinity of Jesus ultimately won over the beliefs of the disciples and family who actually knew Jesus. And this strand of Christianity, (Paul’s “brand” rather than that of Jesus’s half-brother James) led to it being where the faith is today…(though many aspects/beliefs have always been and still are being challenged!
Here are a few thoughts of mine on this highly controversial subject (from research, but mostly Spirit)…
Jesus did NOT claim to be God, but a conduit TO “The Father” (“Follow me…I am the way, the truth and the light!”! Yet Jesus saw himself as separate from “the Father”, a unique term/concept to the Christian faith (although he had a uniquely intimate relationship with the “Father” as “Son of God” and “son of Man” ) . Jesus continually called on the Father in prayer to accomplish what he could not accomplish on his own. He lived a life totally dependent on this God and in total submission to the will of the Father
And so can we!
God, Infinite Spirit, The Creator of Life, Ground of All Being is beyond our human comprehension. Yet the life of ONE person, Jesus is a, ONE “manifestation” (big word, eh) of God, Ultimate Source, ie ALL that is GOOD!
Thus the “person” of Jesus is a symbol of hope to so many people throughout the globe. Jesus Christ is focus (a focal point) for one’s faith, “something” on which to hang, to pin one’s faith. It’s an “anchor …
and like us each ONE of us can CHOOSE to live a life of faith dependant on God…as well as striving for the ultimate ideal to which we can possibly aspire
And each ONE of us can choose to have the mind, the mindset …in a word the consciousness of Jesus… to achieve what may appear impossible things in your own life!
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” – Romans 12:2
“Spirit controls your mind.” Romans 8:6
“Let this mind be in you, which is also in Christ Jesus.” – Phillippians 2:5
“But we can understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.”
“Hope sees the invisible, feels the intangible and achieves the impossible.”
A final quick thought…
For me the person and the spirit of Jesus is MY path to this God of the Universe and He is the doorway…and that’s my reality… and my experience!
“There is neither east nor west, tribe nor ethnicity, male or female, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist. Christian nor Jew. There is only a God-filled humanity.”
“Let not our beliefs, but our shared humanity define us.”
– c
“The task ahead of you can always be overcome by the power within you…and the often seemingly difficult or even “impassible”) path ahead of you is never as steep with the great spirit that lies within you.”
“We have it within; but we get it all from without. There is a well-spring of strength, wisdom, courage and great imagination within each one of us; but once we draw on this truth, it gets watered from without, by a Higher Source – the Ultimate Source of Life and Love, which is God, the very Ground of our Being.”
“Our Greatest Good is perhaps not to share our material possessions, our money and ‘riches’ with others, but through faith in other people, to so lay the foundation to reveal the rich treasure that lies within themselves.”
Sharing some Spiritual Thoughts and Principles from Neale Donald Walsh’s ‘Conversations with God’ (Part Two)
Submitters’s Note:
This article (in point form) was largely based upon notes I’ve taken from Neale Donald Walsh’s series of books ‘Conversations with God’, whilst studying the link between the human mind (
psychology) and spirituality. Whilst I may not agree with all of Walsch’s views and beliefs on the concept of God, a “Higher Power’, I’m sharing this piece to hopefully stimulate thinking and discussion on these concepts from Walsh’s personal ideas and beliefs on the ‘airey-fairey spiritual journey’ (and do ‘try to test’, further explore and then apply these principles in ‘real life’).
Enjoy…
*
We keep waiting for God to tell us, show us, and God keeps waiting for us to show Him/Her/It. We’re waiting for the One who waits for us. God is a God of creation.
Truth exists nowhere outside yourself.
The soul is the sum total of every feeling you have ever had. It is multi-faceted, including the mind, intellect and impressions. (I believe the soul is the sum total of our mind, will and emotions, whilst “spirit is the outpouring”).
Express and experience yourself as the grandest version of the greatest vision you ever held about Who You (really) Are.
Find a ‘place of beingness‘ in your life. Have no attachment to results – then you see your life in a larger context, see your purpose in a larger way.
I like the concept of INTENT (the reason why I’m sharing this article).
All of life is spiritual and every step you take is on a spiritual path. You are a spiritual being.
“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”
– Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
It’s up to YOU to create a new reality. God does care about your experience (??). God simply doesn’t care HOW you go about creating it.
Raise your vision higher and higher and live by the dictates of that vision. Seek to share with others what you have come to know of yourself, what you have come to be. Meditation exposes you to the “inside of you”, your absolute truth.”
*
THE PURPOSE OF LIFE:
Is to discover, then fulfil and honour that purpose (one reason why I write!). Life is a DECLARATION.
N.B:
The purpose is life is not to please God. The purpose of life is to be your AUTHENTIC SELF. Act out and BE the “real/true you”. The only problem of humanity is a lack of love; as love breeds tolerance,
peace. The fastest way to get into a place of love and concern for all humankind is to see all humankind as your family, as we are all connected through our shared humanity.
Opportunity. Experience Who You Are – what meaning do you give to events? The purpose of
religion is to put the fear of God into us.
What is needed is not a change of circumstance, but a change of consciousness. Fired with emotion and passion, in our own little ways and in our own little spheres of influence, we can all raise our own consciousness, then perhaps ignite the public consciousness with those people whose lives we may touch. So it’s up to each
ONE of us to do just do our best – what one person can do to make a difference, a better world. To be ourselves!
Jesus supported everyone in being just who they wanted to be.
He gave them strength, courage and
wisdom – he was a great encourager.
Make a new mind. Jesus’s great gift was that he saw people as they truly are. He refused to accept appearances; he refused to believe what others believed of themselves. He always had a Higher Thought and he always invited others to it (one can never go higher than one’s thoughts).
Yet Jesus also honoured where others chose to be. He did not require them to accept his higher idea; but merely held it out as an invitation – with great compassion. .
Another “tinker” (philosophers) thoughts…
“Is it not possible that Jesus meant himself only as an ‘example’ and that he believed that only by following his ‘ways’ could someone reach nirvana… er… spiritual fulfilment and ‘heaven’? This is the way I originally saw it. I never saw Jesus as pointing to himself but pointing to a spiritual ‘way’. “
I like that!
*
When in doubt, rather err on the side of compassion (and kindness)
You must stop seeing God as separate from you and you as separate from each other. As my good friend Lindsay, ‘the prophet and prayer-warrior’ says: “When a person goes to church, you take God TO church with you.” Love gives all and requires nothing!
It’s a shift of consciousness – the change that must be made can be made only in the hearts of men and women. Develop a global consciousness – the source of this new consciousness.
Use every moment to think the highest thought, say the highest word, do the highest deed. Then you are living at the “highest level of consciousness”. In this you glorify your Holy Self, and thus glorify Me. Make every moment of your life an outpouring of love.
Give everything, require nothing.
By your shining example. seek only godliness, speak only in truthfulness, act only in love.
Be a light unto the world.
Be a gift to everyone who enters your life and to everyone whose life you enter – the gift of you experiencing and fulfilling who you are. Make of your life a gift – YOU are the gift.
Be a living breathing example of the highest truth that resides within you.
It’s a process of self definition (not self discovery), of growth (not
learning), of being (not doing).
The path then becomes not a struggle, but a process. Man’s struggle is his search for God, the fulfilment of self, the expression of truth. Greatness of the human spirit.
The guidance you are getting is to follow your heart; listen to your soul. Hear your Self and so acquire great
wisdom.
We need a consciousness shift on the planet, an awareness that the highest purpose of life is not the accumulation of the greatest wealth, but the DOING OF THE GREATEST GOOD.
I am co-creating with you your experiences; that I am a part of your decisions, choices and declarations. I have chosen YOU.
What is needed on this planet is a massive shift of consciousness, a change in your awareness. A renewed respect for all of life, and a deepened understanding of the inter-relatedness of everything.
My highest goal for you is to know yourself as the Creator.
What you CHOOSE, you experience.
Happiness, etc?
As in all things, what you THINK is what you get (wysiwyg).
Live out your own destiny – your own consciousness creates the result.
Religion creates disunity.
Truth and God are found in the same place – silence.
Reaching God by the simple living of your life in goodness and in trust.
It’s a change in paradigm shift – it will take great wisdom, great courage, massive determination to follow the spiritual path.
I create my most wonderful tomorrows, when I live my grandest vision right now – in the present.
Be a builder of the dawn.
Be a light unto the world.
“To dearest mom
You have gifted me far more
than I ever gifted you .
This and you are a work in progress.”
THINK THE HIGHEST THOUGHTS (“tink da highest torts”)
Be all that you are capable of being… and have great fun along the journey (of self discovery).
craig (“information and inspiration distributor, incorrigible encourager and people-builder”)
“There is a rich tapestry of talent in every human soul, that
flows through (and from), the Source of our Being, the Spirit
of God, Life. So don’t spend your days stringing and tuning
your instrument; start making and playing your unique tunes
of music right now.”
“When I let go of who (and what) I think I am, then I become all that I am capable of being. Enjoy just being YOU, as you ride the rapids, er sorry, fall down the water-falls of life.”
“Let the light of your BEING shine brightly; so revealing Who
You Really Are. Be a Bringer of the Light, which emanates
from our soul, God, our Creator, the Source, the Essence of Life
(and Ground of our very Being).
Therefore, it can do more than illuminate
your own path.YOUR spirit will help makes the lives of
others easier by illuminating others paths. For this light
is our humanity, the spirit of God, truth, wisdom,
beauty and
especially love…and it lies within each one of us. Through
your actions and your being, let your light, YOUR spirit
truly shine brightly on the world, like the radiance emitted
by a candle at midnight.”
– craig (as adapted from Neale Donald Walsh in ‘Conversations with God’ Book 3).
“God creates us with different gifts. Each one of us comes into the world with a different collection of life circumstances that often severely challenge us, things that give us joy and in expressing our talents allow us to bless the people, the world around us.”
“The task ahead of you can always be overcome by the power within you…and the seemingly difficult path ahead of you is never as steep with the great spirit that lies within you.”
“When I let go of what (and who) I think I am, I become all that I can be… and am capable of being.” – craig (as adapted and inspired from Lao Tzu)
Love God, yourself (and so ensure a life-long romance) and also your neighbour.”
HOPE, FAITH, LOVE , and JOY- GOD HAS A GREAT AND UNIQUE PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE
Just sharing a few thoughts on hope faith, love, spiritual growth, faith
I truly believe that, no matter how bad or traumatic an event appeared at the time, absolutely everything happens for a reason – to teach us lessons in the ‘scholarly journey’ of life… and that this only means that something much bigger and better, something way more beautiful is waiting for you – somewhere, somehow! God can weave a beautiful tapestry from even the most tangled thread of a shattered life.. It’s just a matter of “hanging in by the fingernails” with the hidden strength of character that we all have deep within us…and which is only severely tested in trials and tribulations. Like the ‘pearl of great’ price, which is produced by the great irritation of the oyster. This suffering breeds our great strength of character, which is within every one of us.
It’s not what happens to us in life…it’s how we react to what has happened to us…and our success will largely depend on our ATTITUDE to life: by remaining optimistic and open to new opportunities in the face of hardship, when all seems lost. Continue to do your part to open new doors amidst your trials and tribulations. All we need is FAITH to keep going. So many miners gave up within inches of finding the gold in the seam of life.
I have an absolute faith in a Power way beyond ourselves, God, Life, Spirit of the Universe, Higher Authority, Infinite Intelligence, the Ultimate Source, the Creator (whatever you wish to call Him/It). However, I also believe that God, first helps those who help themselves. He may steer the course of our lives, but we have to take action and start peddling. He always gives us HOPE and LOVE when we may think we have nothing left…and God, Life Force, the Universe wants what is best for us and for us to be fulfilled and happy. That, I believe, is why , I believe God always conspires to deliver when we want something with all our heart and soul. God can make our wildest dreams come true -ones that are far bigger and more magnificent than we could ever have dreamed ourselves.
Here was a light behind the despair, beyond the darkness. At first a flicker of an ember, just a tiny pin-prick of dawning possibilities. Then burning slowly, brightly and bigger, a glimmer, a candle in the blackness of despair, which gave off just enough of a glow (luminescence?) to light a path. And so show the rest of us the way ahead… a path to endless possibilities…from the darkness into the eternal light.”
AS THE SPIRIT MOVES ME
Written about 1999 (and is a record of some my thoughts along the “spiritual journey”, when I was in one of the frequent “valleys of life”.
Hope I’ve grown a bit since those early days…
As my close friends and family say: You’re not having a mid life crisis now, your entire life is a long on-going one, craig!
So will keep on laughing along the often extremely hard, yet always amazing and magical journey of life#.
c
* that’s a metaphor, btw                    *
from http://www.craiglockbooks.com (My  American cyberpal Erich who kindly did this nice web site for me “many moons” ago)
*
So here goes…I’m NOT  religious. However, in the last few years I have become particularly interested in spirituality and theology, (rather than religion ‘per se’, an impressive expression, rather fancy and foreign.)
But what does it mean? I began to realize that the spiritual aspect was missing from my life for so long. Unbalanced, like a lop-sided wheel, my engine of life spluttering and misfiring along
(Although I did believe in “some sort of”  Higher Power (and included that in my earliest writings).
For most of my life I didn’t think much about God, Ultimate Source and definitely had not much God consciousness (like  “direct” experience and appreciation of God’s Infinite Love and Grace).
Though my good friend Donovan (a “normal/crazy” Christian – you don’t have to be overly “straight and boring” to be one) had been praying for me for many many years – “poor chappie”, I didn’t know much about Jesus (having forgotten much of what the nuns taught in my young convent days at Star of the Sea, in St James, False Bay, Cape Town.  Let alone how easy it is to “tap into” this incredible Source of Power and Wisdom through Jesus as conduit “spooky”, eh!
I’m certainly not another “Bible basher”. I like to think of myself (I don’t like “labels”, nor “trying to fit people into little boxes”)as a “free spirited, passionate, yet moderate” follower of Jesus Christ (and His teachings), who is most tolerant of other views and denominations.
“If Jesus were here today  (in “person”), would He be a ‘Christian’??!!”
There are many doorways to God, our great Creator and life-force, I believe.
I know, I know.. but I got an answer to that one!
A hint- go directly to The Source)
You choose!
I think intolerance and adhering to “narrow religious dogmas” is one of the reasons why rigid ‘religious (note alliteration) types’ are perceived as being ‘weirdos’ by those on the outside, and why the world is in such a mess! And why traditional religion is losing so many followers in the Western world today
I am a new Christian, but with the sort of life I’ve led, “Someone up there” must have been watching over me all the time. Now my relationship with a Higher Power, The Spirit of the universe through Jesus Christ, gives me great peace of mind and joy, though I’ve still got my “L-plates” on in my walk with our heavenly Father, Infinite Intelligence, Life, Nature or Destiny
(or whatever you wish to call Him /Her/ It).
My relationship with Him is vitally important to me, (together with my dearly beloved sons) and through Spirit I seem to get closer to and get to know God, Ground of All Being better
day by day. The Lord through Jesus as conduit, a channel is the source of my comfort (and I need plenty) strength and inspiration. I believe I’m doing what I’m destined to do by following
my ‘calling’ and the deepest desires of my heart.
I want to follow His plan for my life and serve humanity in some way. ( Well, without Him what a ‘stuff up’ I made, going down my blind alleys and coming to numerous
dead-ends – ‘cul de sacs’ ). Showing off my French again!
Enough disclosure of intimate stuff – as I’m a very private part – ‘er sorry, person!
This is a very quiet, stable period of my life here in “Sleepy Hollow” near the bottom of the world, after much turbulence in the past decade. Probably extremely boring for someone like me. However, I really needed this time out after our unstable and stressful past decade – changing countries as often as my ‘underrods’.
Most importantly, I sincerely believe it’s time for growing (as I’m quite short!). But perhaps most of all, its my apprenticeship serving God, as I have a very strong feeling that I would like to spend the rest of my life getting to know Him better and honouring Him, as well as helping people in distress and “serving humanity in whatever way I can. In short,being the best person I can possibly be.
In my future works I have a strong compulsion (or is it inspiration?) to write on a more spiritual level; about what HE has done for me personally and what He
can do in all of our lives…if only we will open the door and let Him (the spirit/energy of the Universe) in. All you have to do is ASK.
Yes, I firmly believe we all need that firm relationship with The Creator. I strongly believe that relationship is not only for the weak, the poor and the “lame ducks” of society; but also for the successful achievers who can do much more with FAITH.
We don’t know when we will need His help…and when our whole world comes crashing down, like Humpty Dumpty,  he is our ‘insurance policy’, our parachute.
How much more we can do with God’s help? We only have to ask Him to come into our lives. I truly believe God wants us to be good kind people (as most people are), to love ourselves as well as our neighbour; yet also to be successful (financially, but especially spiritually)…and to use our “wealth of spirit” to benefit others
Though ‘yours truly’ can’t speak from a position of strength – at least not yet!
Dream on, “sonny boy”!
“Without hope and a vision the people perish”
Enough “heavy” theology and “preaching like a religious nutter,  trying to “save and convert you”…
Most people believe they have no power to change their circumstances; so they ask for Jesus to change things for them.
Yet Jesus (who perfectly understood the human condition) said: “Why are you so amazed? These things, and more, shall you also do.” (John 14:12). Yet the people of his time could not believe it…and many to this day also do not!
You all imagine you are unworthy. You’ll use anybody’s name, but your own!
(My comment: In spite of the above statement, I suppose asking for something in the name of Jesus keeps a person more humble, less egotistical; yet it comes down to personal choice.)
Now on re-reading John 14:12 (New King James version) I see Jesus’s actual words were:
“He who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do…If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”
and here are similar words from the New International Version…
“I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these…
You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”
Yet I tell you this…
“Ask and you shall receive. Seek and ye shall find. Knock and it shall be opened unto you.”
Submitters’s Note:
This article (in point form) was largely based upon notes I’ve taken from Neale Donald Walsh’s series of books ‘Conversations with God’, whilst studying the link between the human mind and spirituality. (Whilst I may not agree with all of Walsch’s views and beliefs on the concept of God, a “Higher Power’, I’ve added a few personal thoughts from my experiences of life – in brackets). I’m sharing this piece to hopefully stimulate thinking and discussion on these concepts from Walsh’s personal ideas and beliefs on the ‘airey-fairey spiritual journey’ (which I do ‘try to test’, further explore and apply these principles in ‘real life’). Hope this may be of interest to you. Enjoy…
You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”
Yet I tell you this…
“Ask and you shall receive. Seek and ye shall find. Knock and it shall be opened unto you.”
(This statement is totally in alignment with psychological principles – based on the concept of BELIEF(the magic power of believing). So the key is having FAITH and we need a focus for it, our deepest desires and aspirations – something on which to pin our faith. And the greater our expectation(s), as well as the bigger (higher) our faith, the greater the ‘miracles‘ that happen in our lives!)
BELIEVE it before you see it (rather than see it, then believe it)!
We can never go higher than our thoughts.
KNOW who you are and create Who you wish to be. This is the purpose of all of life. Life is an on-going never-ending process of re-creation. You keep recreating yourselves in the image of the next highest idea about yourselves.
The greatest challenge of human beings is to Be Here NOW.
The soul speaks to you in feelings. Listen to your feelings. Follow your feelings, honour your feelings.
A life lived by choice is a life of conscious action.
A life lived by chance is a life of unconscious reaction.
NB: The soul creates, whilst the mind reacts.
Success is repetition over time.
Life is an on-going process of creation. You are creating your reality every minute. Keep focussed, stay centred, single-minded.
Your desires are My desires. Your Will is MY will ???
(That’s another heavy, deep spiritual question for consideration.in another article)
Clarity is the first step to mastery.
We and God are ONE. God is not apart from us, ever, and we only think we are apart from God. God is in each one of us. You must stop seeing God as separate from you and you as separate from each other. As my good friend Lindsay, ‘the prophet and prayer-warrior’ says: “When a person goes to church, you take God TO church with you.”
Everything happens in perfect order????
(IS IT?)
(“Your challenge is to reconcile your belief of God as higher power with the concept of god as the essence of everything with no control, interest, personality; just spaciousness or Being.”
I’ll ponder that ‘heavy’ statement; but thanks for your input, ‘lynnie bear’) ^
* (Later… on reflection…I CHOOSE to think that God (or god) cares deeply about me as a ‘special creation’ and what’s best for me and my life. It’s a DECISION (most important) we make about our spiritual beliefs, I guess! That is my CONSCIOUSNESS.
To continue with Neale Donald Walsch’s beliefs after that little diversion from me…
You can BE just what you wish to be, CHOOSE what you wish to experience. Express and experience that aspect of you which pleases you to express and experience.
Life moves in cycles – everything is cyclical.
Use your Now Moment for the Highest Purpose – the creation and expression of Who You Really Are. Decide Who You are – Who you want to be – and then do everything in your power to be that person.
BE and decide who you really are; to choose and to create who you really are; to experience and to fulfil your current idea about yourself. It’s an eternal moment of Self Creation and Self fulfillment through the process of SELF EXPRESSSION. Fashion the grandest version of the greatest vision you ever had about yourself. This process of creation and recreation is on-going, never-ending.
You may want the world to change; but first change your own world.
Fired with emotion and passion, in our own little ways and in our own little spheres of influence, we can all raise, then ignite the public consciousness. So it’s up to each ONE of us to do just what one person can do to make a difference, a better world.
Elevate your thinking to the highest level of consciousness and be the change you wish to see in the world today. In so doing you will live at the highest level of humanity and be an example…for the benefit of all mankind.
Fashion the grandest version of the greatest vision you ever had about yourself. Then once you know your truth, embrace it and LIVE it.
“If it’s to be, it’s up to me.”
Be the very best person YOU can be with “loads of” FUN along the journey of life.
“Let your light so shine that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
(Matt 5:16)
“You are the light of the world; a city cannot be hidden, if it is built on a mountain top. A lamp is not lighted to be put away under a bushel measure; it is put on the lamp stand, to give light to all the people of the house; and your light must shine so brightly before men”
(Matt 5,14-16. Knox).
“If there is light in the Soul,
There will be light in the person.
If there is beauty in the person,
There will be harmony in the house.
If there is harmony in the house,
There will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation,
There will be peace in the world.”
– Chinese proverb
“There is a rich tapestry of talent in every human soul, that
flows through (and from), the Source of our Being, the Spirit
of God, Life. So don’t spend your days stringing and tuning
your instrument; start making and playing your unique tunes
of music right now.”
“When I let go of who (and what) I think I am, then I become all that I am capable of being. Enjoy just being YOU, as you ride the rapids, er sorry, fall down the water-falls of life.”
“Let the light of your BEING shine brightly; so revealing Who
You Really Are. Be a Bringer of the Light, which emanates
from our soul, God, our Creator, the Source, the Essence of Life
(and Ground of our very Being).
Therefore, it can do more than illuminate
your own path.YOUR spirit will help makes the lives of
others easier by illuminating others paths. For this light
is our humanity, the spirit of God, truth, wisdom, beauty and
especially love…and it lies within each one of us. Through
your actions and your being, let your light, YOUR spirit
truly shine brightly on the world, like the radiance emitted
by a candle at midnight.”
Sharing some Spiritual Thoughts and Principles from Neale Donald Walsh’s ‘Conversations with God’ (Part Two)
Life is not a process of discovery – it’s a process of CREATION.
Await nothing; but inspiringly create everything you choose and desire in life. I see God as co-Creator and observer of our lives (like a “sleeping partner”). God does the watching without judgement. We keep waiting for God to tell us, show us, and God keeps waiting for us to show Him/Her/It. We’re waiting for the One who waits for us.
Nothing has meaning, except the meaning we give it.
You create your own reality – always go with your own deepest feelings, your deepest truth.
Feelings are the ‘language of the soul’. A thing has no purpose in itself. Every purpose for any thing is given to it by you and me.
When you don’t know what to do, or what course to take? Just let go and let it be right…
for now that you don’t have the answer. Create the space for the answer to occur to you.
We determine our fate by the thoughts we entertain collectively. Our collective consciousness creates a great deal of our individual reality. All the time we are creating.
Jesus believed in the value and worth of every human being and his life showed the world a God of love. He died and rose again, so that we know the truth about him, and hence about us. His act was meant as a demonstration of Who We Really Are: ie. living out who he really was, what he saw as his ‘divine purpose’ – acting out and living his life mission, what he was called to do and BE with total commitment and integrity…and especially love. Jesus was a divine master, who possessed absolute understanding of the truth – the truth about himself and about God. He wished to share the truth with all the world. Thus he said, “I and the Father are one”. We are brothers. We were all made in the image and likeness of God and Jesus kept trying to tell us so…but few people believed him.
Sharing some Spiritual Thoughts and Principles from Neale Donald Walsh’s ‘Conversations with God’ (Part Two)
Submitters’s Note:
This article (in point form) was largely based upon notes I’ve taken from Neale Donald Walsh’s series of books ‘Conversations with God’, whilst studying the link between the human mind (
psychology) and spirituality. Whilst I may not agree with all of Walsch’s views and beliefs on the concept of God, a “Higher Power’, I’m sharing this piece to hopefully stimulate thinking and discussion on these concepts from Walsh’s personal ideas and beliefs on the ‘airey-fairey spiritual journey’ (and do ‘try to test’, further explore and then apply these principles in ‘real life’).
Enjoy…
*
We keep waiting for God to tell us, show us, and God keeps waiting for us to show Him/Her/It. We’re waiting for the One who waits for us. God is a God of creation.
Truth exists nowhere outside yourself.
The soul is the sum total of every feeling you have ever had. It is multi-faceted, including the mind, intellect and impressions. (I believe the soul is the sum total of our mind, will and emotions, whilst “spirit is the outpouring”).
Express and experience yourself as the grandest version of the greatest vision you ever held about Who You (really) Are.
Find a ‘place of beingness‘ in your life. Have no attachment to results – then you see your life in a larger context, see your purpose in a larger way.
I like the concept of INTENT (the reason why I’m sharing this article).
All of life is spiritual and every step you take is on a spiritual path. You are a spiritual being.
“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”
– Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
It’s up to YOU to create a new reality. God does care about your experience (??). God simply doesn’t care HOW you go about creating it.
Raise your vision higher and higher and live by the dictates of that vision. Seek to share with others what you have come to know of yourself, what you have come to be. Meditation exposes you to the “inside of you”, your absolute truth.”
*
THE PURPOSE OF LIFE:
Is to discover, then fulfil and honour that purpose (one reason why I write!). Life is a DECLARATION.
N.B:
The purpose is life is not to please God. The purpose of life is to be your AUTHENTIC SELF. Act out and BE the “real/true you”. The only problem of humanity is a lack of love; as love breeds tolerance,
peace. The fastest way to get into a place of love and concern for all humankind is to see all humankind as your family, as we are all connected through our shared humanity.
Opportunity. Experience Who You Are – what meaning do you give to events? The purpose of
religion is to put the fear of God into us.
What is needed is not a change of circumstance, but a change of consciousness. Fired with emotion and passion, in our own little ways and in our own little spheres of influence, we can all raise our own consciousness, then perhaps ignite the public consciousness with those people whose lives we may touch. So it’s up to each
ONE of us to do just do our best – what one person can do to make a difference, a better world. To be ourselves!
Jesus supported everyone in being just who they wanted to be.
He gave them strength, courage and
wisdom – he was a great encourager.
Make a new mind. Jesus’s great gift was that he saw people as they truly are. He refused to accept appearances; he refused to believe what others believed of themselves. He always had a Higher Thought and he always invited others to it (one can never go higher than one’s thoughts).
Yet Jesus also honoured where others chose to be. He did not require them to accept his higher idea; but merely held it out as an invitation – with great compassion. .
Another “tinker” (philosophers) thoughts…
“Is it not possible that Jesus meant himself only as an ‘example’ and that he believed that only by following his ‘ways’ could someone reach nirvana… er… spiritual fulfilment and ‘heaven’? This is the way I originally saw it. I never saw Jesus as pointing to himself but pointing to a spiritual ‘way’. “
I like that!
*
When in doubt, rather err on the side of compassion (and kindness)
You must stop seeing God as separate from you and you as separate from each other. As my good friend Lindsay, ‘the prophet and prayer-warrior’ says: “When a person goes to church, you take God TO church with you.” Love gives all and requires nothing!
It’s a shift of consciousness – the change that must be made can be made only in the hearts of men and women. Develop a global consciousness – the source of this new consciousness.
Use every moment to think the highest thought, say the highest word, do the highest deed. Then you are living at the “highest level of consciousness”. In this you glorify your Holy Self, and thus glorify Me. Make every moment of your life an outpouring of love.
Give everything, require nothing.
By your shining example. seek only godliness, speak only in truthfulness, act only in love.
Be a light unto the world.
Be a gift to everyone who enters your life and to everyone whose life you enter – the gift of you experiencing and fulfilling who you are. Make of your life a gift – YOU are the gift.
Be a living breathing example of the highest truth that resides within you.
It’s a process of self definition (not self discovery), of growth (not
learning), of being (not doing).
The path then becomes not a struggle, but a process. Man’s struggle is his search for God, the fulfilment of self, the expression of truth. Greatness of the human spirit.
The guidance you are getting is to follow your heart; listen to your soul. Hear your Self and so acquire great
wisdom.
We need a consciousness shift on the planet, an awareness that the highest purpose of life is not the accumulation of the greatest wealth, but the DOING OF THE GREATEST GOOD.
I am co-creating with you your experiences; that I am a part of your decisions, choices and declarations. I have chosen YOU.
What is needed on this planet is a massive shift of consciousness, a change in your awareness. A renewed respect for all of life, and a deepened understanding of the inter-relatedness of everything.
My highest goal for you is to know yourself as the Creator.
What you CHOOSE, you experience.
Happiness, etc?
As in all things, what you THINK is what you get (wysiwyg).
Live out your own destiny – your own consciousness creates the result.
Religion creates disunity.
Truth and God are found in the same place – silence.
Reaching God by the simple living of your life in goodness and in trust.
It’s a change in paradigm shift – it will take great wisdom, great courage, massive determination to follow the spiritual path.
I create my most wonderful tomorrows, when I live my grandest vision right now – in the present.
Be a builder of the dawn.
Be a light unto the world.
“To dearest mom
You have gifted me far more
than I ever gifted you .
This and you are a work in progress.”
THINK THE HIGHEST THOUGHTS (“tink da highest torts”)
Be all that you are capable of being… and have great fun along the journey (of self discovery).
“There is a rich tapestry of talent in every human soul, that
flows through (and from), the Source of our Being, the Spirit
of God, Life. So don’t spend your days stringing and tuning
your instrument; start making and playing your unique tunes
of music right now.”
“When I let go of who (and what) I think I am, then I become all that I am capable of being. Enjoy just being YOU, as you ride the rapids, er sorry, fall down the water-falls of life.”
“Let the light of your BEING shine brightly; so revealing Who
You Really Are. Be a Bringer of the Light, which emanates
from our soul, God, our Creator, the Source, the Essence of Life
(and Ground of our very Being).
Therefore, it can do more than illuminate
your own path.YOUR spirit will help makes the lives of
others easier by illuminating others paths. For this light
is our humanity, the spirit of God, truth, wisdom,
beauty and
especially love…and it lies within each one of us. Through
your actions and your being, let your light, YOUR spirit
truly shine brightly on the world, like the radiance emitted
by a candle at midnight.”
– craig (as adapted from Neale Donald Walsh in ‘Conversations with God Book 3’).
“God creates us with different gifts. Each one of us comes into the world with a different collection of life circumstances that often severely challenge us, things that give us joy and in expressing our talents allow us to bless the people, the world around us.”
“The task ahead of you can always be overcome by the power within you…and the seemingly difficult path ahead of you is never as steep with the great spirit that lies within you.”
“When I let go of what (and who) I think I am, I become all that I can be… and am capable of being.” – craig (as adapted and inspired from Lao Tzu)
Love God, yourself (and so ensure a life-long romance) and also your neighbour.”
About the submitter:
Craig likes (no, rather loves) to share knowledge and insights from his life experiences to try and help others in ‘every little way’ he can… without being too much of a “Mr goody goody boring two shoes” (as he’s lost the other one!). He has been studying the human mind, ‘the last unexplored frontier’ for much of his life. His mission is in his own small way, to try to help people live happier, more fulfilling and successful lives. He is currently “working” on a book ‘God and Formula One: Beyond the Zone’ (and what he has written to date is available at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005Z6BFX0 )
