‘THE THIRD JESUS’ by Deepak Chopra: How to Find Truth and Love in Today’s World
Published in the UK in 2008 by Rider, an imprint of Ebury Publishing http://www.rbooks.co.uk

THE WORD
“Deepak Chopra explores what we call the ‘Christ-consciousness’, which can be identified neither with the Jesus of history, nor with the Jesus of the creeds, the doctrines, and the dogmas of the ecclesiastical institution. This ‘third Jesus’ can be seen only when we move into a new human awareness that will carry us beyond tribe and prejudice and even beyond our religious systems.”
– John Shelby Spong, retired bishop of Newark and author of ‘Jesus for the Non-Religious’

“The story of ‘The Third Jesus’ is based on the science of all great religions. The knowledge that God dwells within each of us is realised, when we enter into Christ-consciousness. His voice reaffirms the science that is the basis of all religions and echoes the truth in the human spirit.”
– Russell Simmons

INTRODUCTION
“Jesus wanted to inspire a world reborn in God. His name for the soul is the Kingdom of God and he clearly intended for it to descend to earth. (‘On earth let it be as it is in Heaven’)
Jesus’s radical vision needs to be renewed. Spirit, like water, remains fresh only if it flows.”
*
PART ONE
“The living Jesus was a man of baffling contradictions: extremely humble, yet with such exalting claims about who he was… so extraordinarily human, yet at the same time divine. He taught his followers how to reach God-consciousness. The third Jesus offers a direct relationship, that is personal and present. Conventional faith is the same as belief in the impossible (such as Jesus walking on water); but there is another faith that gives us the ability to reach into the unknown and achieve transformation. And that is what he taught each ONE of us. Jesus thought timelessly and rose to the highest level of enlightenment (and consciousness).

This article (in point form) was based on notes and some short extracts I’ve taken directly from Dr Deepak Chopra’s fascinating and thought-provoking new book, ‘The Third Jesus’, whilst studying the link between the human mind and spirituality. As I take notes, contemplate and share these most revealing thoughts from Dr Chopra, I learn more about my own spiritual journey. So am sharing this piece from Part One ( “a great enlightening read”) in the spirit of hopefully stimulating thinking and discussion on the life and mission of Jesus from Chopra’s writings and beliefs along the ‘spiritual journey’. I recommend that you read this book, if you are interested in spiritual (or “airey-fairey” as my very “down-to-earth”, practical friends call this subject matter) matters.
Jesus thought timelessly and rose to the highest level of
enlightenment (and consciousness).

You are the light of the world. Let your light shine before all men.’
Jesus was the very model of his teachings. Buddha said, “Whoever sees me sees the teaching”, and the same is true of Jesus. He lived in Christ-consciousness, and his teaching drew directly out of his own state of awareness. Jesus can show us the way to enlightenment. If there is such a thing as God-consciousness, no-one can be excluded from it.
What makes Jesus so difficult for us to grasp is that he never veers away from the purity of the light. He has no choice. God consciousness creates its own reality. Surrender (fully) to God, the Father, proved to be Jesus’s ultimate weapon.
*
The Gnostic Gospels:
The Gnostics chafed at church authority, believing it was up to each Christian to find God through personal knowledge of him and thus to attain enlightenment. They preferred to walk an individual path guided by revelation. The Gnostics felt that enlightenment, not salvation in Heaven was Jesus’s mission. (My comment/question: What about both??). The Gospel of Truth accuses conventional Christians of missing the whole point of Jesus, falling into blind worship, instead of trying to seek enlightenment. Individual experience dominated over written doctrine.”
(My comment: One has to experience the presence, the spirit of Jesus in a life… and this comes through simply asking: “Ask and it will be given.”)
* *
CHAPTER TWO: THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS WITHIN

“Reaching the Kingdom of God means arriving at a higher level of consciousness… and Jesus said that the Kingdom of God was within everyone. He serves as the model for this path by inner communion with God. Jesus is the human face of God.
Your devotion, service and contemplation are directed towards the higher self or soul. The seed is his teaching; the waste ground is a mind unprepared to receive the truth. We turn to Jesus, because he understands the territory of the unknown, the source not only of a messiah, but of the soul itself.”

“Let your light so shine that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

You are the light of the world; a city cannot be hidden, if it is built on a mountain top. A lamp is not lighted to be put away under a bushel measure; it is put on the lamp stand, to give light to all the people of the house; and your light must shine so brightly before men.”
(Matt 5,14-16. Knox).

“Let the light of your BEING shine brightly; so revealing Who You Really Are. Be a Bringer of the Light, which emanates from our soul, God, our Creator, the Source, the Essence of Life (and Ground of our very Being). Therefore, it can do more than illuminate your own path.YOUR spirit will help makes the lives of others easier by illuminating others paths. For this light is our humanity, the spirit of God, truth, wisdom, beauty and especially love…and it lies within each one of us. Through your actions and your being, let your light, YOUR spirit truly shine brightly on the world, like the radiance emitted by a candle at midnight.”

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, ‘who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking;
so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.”
– Marianne Williamson

I love these inspiring and uplifting words from Marianne Williamson as used by Nelson Mandela in his inaugeration speech as State President at South Africa’s first Democratic Election in 1994.

“Deep within us there is a flame that burns, and that flame is the spark of God. In some it burns brightly, in others it is barely distinguishable; but always it burns…and with love and acceptance the flame gets higher and brighter. We can help others to kindle this flame by seeing the good in them, even if they don’t see it themselves.”

‘THE THIRD JESUS’ by Deepak Chopra: How to Find Truth and Love in Today’s World
Published in the UK in 2008 by Rider, an imprint of Ebury Publishing
www.rbooks.co.uk and www.deepakchopra.com

PART TWO THE GOSPEL OF ENLIGHTENMENT

“Jesus said, ‘Be in the world, but not of it.’
Love and Grace:

Jesus treats love as something radical – a life-changing event. (My “tort”: Love is an ACTION…a choice, even more than an emotion). Love will bring God back into our existence. Love will make peace with our enemies and bring joy into our hearts. Jesus says that people must believe in him as Messiah to earn salvation and please God in material ways through doing good works. However, a God capable of being pleased and displeased isn’t a God of Grace, since the essence of grace is unconditional love. The only viable way to follow Jesus’s teachings on love is to match them with your own level of consciousness.

Jesus’s teachings are truly learned only when you become the teaching. The lesson about divine love that Jesus taught is that love is so full of grace, it leads to transformation -: changing a person’s whole being.

‘Abide in Me!’

*

FAITH:
The Jesus who speaks in the gospels seems obsessed with
faith. He makes faith a condition for entering Heaven and escaping Hell. When Jesus tells someone whom he has just healed, that their faith made the miracle possible, the implication is that God doesn’t send miracles to the unfaithful. Jesus could be referring to faith as experienced in a higher state of consciousness.

Believe in a vision
“Without a vision the people perish.”
– Proverbs

‘But strive first for the kingdom of God, and all these things will be given to you as well.’

Everyone who asks, receives. Every thought triggers a response; nothing is lost in the universe.

The door will open.

He makes a promise: ‘And you shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free.’ (John 8:32). Here he means revealed truth, the kind that arises directly from a real connection to God. Anyone who reaches God consciousness will experience revealed truth.

Jesus encourages each of us to find God within ourselves. The path is completely open through knowledge and love (wisdom too), the only obstacles being those you raise yourself.
*

Jesus and the Self (ie. ego, personality and the soul):

Being one with God is our natural, higher state.

Meditation

Jesus didn’t come from a meditative tradition, as Buddha did, and he placed his emphasis on prayer, faith and knowledge. Christianity went on to worship over self transformation, prayer over meditation, and faith over inner growth.

Being is timeless. When Jesus says of himself, ‘Very truly I tell you, before Abraham was, I am’ (John 8:58), he is referring to his state of being (spirit – part of God’s plan for the universe).

PRAYER

Pray to be worthy (and of significance, value to others). Remember who you really are, live to be worthy of God, and pray so that you will be connected to him. Prayer should be intimate, a private communion, not a public show.

Spirit communicates not through words, but through direct experience. Jesus is underscoring the need to be in the presence of spirit yourself and to be affected by it personally. It clarifies the mind to ask specifically for what you want God to do in your life. (God wants you to ASK, so it can be delivered to you!).

I believe Jesus valued prayer as a process of inner growth. As a teacher of enlightenment, prayer is in service to that end.

Pray with faith (great)

BELIEVE that you WILL receive. ‘Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive.’ – Matthew 21:22

At the highest level, a prayer is no different from any other thought; because all thoughts bring about a result…even if it’s a change in one’s own consciousness (a “lightness of being” – free of our burdens collected on the journey of life). Jesus told us simply to believe, really believe that our prayers will come true. EXPECT them to be answered is the key. Believe it…then you’ll see it!

“Our prayers are answered not when we are given what we want; but when we are challenged to be what (all that) we can become.”

– Morris Adler

Jesus Christ came to heal the broken-hearted, the broken in spirit (like you and I at some point in our lives). As in the story of the prodigal son, he came to give hope, the greatest hope: that of new life – hope for a new beginning…. one not divided by the past, but with hope for the future.”

A “Book Review”: ‘THE THIRD JESUS’ (by Dr Deepak Chopra) — Part Three

THE THIRD JESUS’ by Deepak Chopra:

How to Find Truth and Love in Today’s World Published in the UK in 2008 by Rider, an imprint of Ebury Publishing

http://www.rbooks.co.uk and http://www.deepakchopra.com

Karma – the principle of Reaping and Sowing “As you sow, so shall you reap.” Karma is important on the spiritual path, and knowing how to act and why (ie. intent) is important in all religions. Good actions advance spiritual growth.

“Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.”

– John Wesley

Karma gives back exactly what you deserve, but God doesn’t. He gives without regard to good and evil . . . and that is a mark of grace (God’s Infinite Grace). Live by grace. Judge Not ‘

Do not judge, so that you may not be judged. For with the judgment you make you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get.’ (Matthew 7: 1-2)

Generosity of spirit (as with Nelson Mandela) is rewarded in kind,, eventually. Spiritual truths can’t be restricted by time and place. The ability to receive any spiritual teaching depends on your level of awareness. All the violence in Jesus’s life served the purpose of a higher teaching, that physical life, even at its most cruel, can be transcended.

‘For to those who have, more will be given, and they will have an abundance.’ (Matthew 13:12)

Connect to the Source. ‘I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower.’ (John 15:1-5) The sap that nourishes the vine and causes it to bear fruit is God, the Source of Life. Jesus wanted to share the unity he experienced with God, the “Ground of All Being” and therefore he often used the phrase ‘abide in me’. Spirit is eternal.

‘THE THIRD JESUS’ by Deepak Chopra:

How to Find Truth and Love in Today’s World Published in the UK in 2008 by Rider, an imprint of Ebury Publishing

www.rbooks.co.uk and www.deepakchopra.com

*

UNITY

The essence of Jesus was his complete unity with God (ie. his will was in complete alignment with His Father’s will – in an attitude of total submission). The mystical Jesus was describing his essence and ours at the same time. This essence (our humanity) is a speck of God, the soul substance inside everyone that never became seperated from its source (both his and ours). ‘I am Spirit’, He said to them, ‘You are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world.’ (John 8:23) (“Spaced-out”!??)

I am Eternal Jesus said to them, ‘Very truly, I tell you, before Abraham was, I am.’ (My comment: Aren’t we all part of God’s greater plan, especially when we surrender our wills to God’s “higher” purpose). The broader meaning is that spirit surpasses any organized religion. My Purpose is to Fulfil: ‘Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish, but to fulfil.’ Jesus existed for his followers in a state of consciousness beyond the five senses and the thinking mind. (He continually drew on a Higher Power than himself, God, the Father…to do what he could not do himself!). All Authority is Mine And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me’. (Matthew 28:18) I am the Way Jesus said to him: ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. (i have often pondered that one and think I have a ‘revelation’!). If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.’ (John 14: 6-7) (I understand the concept of God, the Father and the ‘invitation’ to enter into a “personal living relationship” with the Ultimate Source, of all the religions is unique to Christianity) Jesus acts not alone, but as a vehicle of God’s will. God causes things to happen through Him. His union with God was immediate, personal and direct. (My little comment: God, Great (Infinite) Spirit “works” through ‘ordinary’ (what’s that!) people and like Jesus, God’s presence and Infinite Grace is often revealed through the thoughts, “small” actions and deeds of “common, humble, yet great spirited” human beings. I suppose the key is getting “our will perfectly in line with God’s will!” . . . but HOW . I’ll contemplate that one). An afterthought . . . Yet we can ALL can be channels, instruments of God’s will , if we so choose and allow to unfold (getting into another deeper/higher dimension, a higher consciousness of living, perhaps??! As I write and express my thoughts, it’s all becoming clearer.. much!

WHO IS THE REAL JESUS? The mystical argument: The real Jesus was never physical — he is the Holy Spirit (???). Jesus becomes something abstract and invisible, the Word that was never born and will never die.

When you go to church, you already take God, with you, Infinite Spirit (Holy??) already in you.”
– my good friend Lindsay (“The Prophet”)
“My church, mosque, synagogue, and/or temple lies (stands) in my own heart (and mind)“.
craig
So God, Ultimate Source, Ground of All Being doesn’t reside exclusively in a building – that’s a symbol and gathering place for people, fellow believers!

Spirituality is about truths (eternal) that cannot be understood from a strictly rational perspective. Because the Holy Spirit is transcendant, Jesus must be found not on earth, but in the Kingdom of God. (a ‘fact of the soul’). Through him, Spirit is realised; so that he brings God-consciousness down to earth by being its living exemplar. Spirit exists to serve, and since we are all spirit, our life should be dedicated to service. When you serve others, you are servant and master to yourself . . . and this state of Higher Consciousness is real and open to ALL of us.”

Dr Deepak Chopra www.deepakchopra.com and www.rbooks.co.uk

In summary . . . The authentic message regarding the words, deeds, and teachings of Jesus are as relevant and useful today as ever. In essence they are:

* Give to anyone who asks; knowledge and righteousness are revealed in action

* Beware those who claim to speak on behalf of God; first, know yourself .

“To thine own self be true.” (thanks dearest mom)

* Find the light inside, and share this light with the world

These writings are an attempt to let Jesus speak for himself . . . and I hope, I trust, that the “spiritual Jesus”, the “Third Jesus”, “The Real Jesus” shines through his words . . . so that you may feel his “sublime presence”, through his Infinite Spirit and Grace . . . TODAY

.My brief) comment on Nehru’s quote above: Following the teachings of Jesus Christ (and Christianity) is NOT religion. but simply applying the eternal principles of psychology as well as (and blended in with) spirituality) in a “personal living relationship”.

“Let your light so shine that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matt 5:16)

“You are the light of the world; a city cannot be hidden, if it is built on a mountain top. A lamp is not lighted to be put away under a bushel measure; it is put on the lamp stand, to give light to all the people of the house; and your light must shine so brightly before men.” (Matt 5,14-16. Knox).

“Let the light of your BEING shine brightly; so revealing Who You Really Are. Be a Bringer of the Light, which emanates from our soul, God, our Creator, the Source, the Essence of Life (and Ground of our very Being). Therefore, it can do more than illuminate your own path. YOUR spirit will help makes the lives of others easier by illuminating others paths. For this light is our humanity, the spirit of God, truth, wisdom, beauty and especially love . . . and it lies within each one of us. Through your actions and your being, let your light, YOUR spirit truly shine brightly on the world, like the radiance emitted by a candle at midnight.”

Sharing some Thoughts (Spiritual) on Jesus from ‘The Third Jesus’ by Deepak Chopra

“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” – Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Submitters’s Note:

Craig is studying the teachings of different religions, as he researches and writes his latest novels ‘A New Dawn’ and ‘From Seeds of Hate to the Bonds of Love’, which are set in the Middle East and his latest “labour of love” ‘ The Real, The True Jesus . . . the One That I Really Know and Love!)‘. So am sharing this piece from Part One ( “a great enlightening read”) in the spirit of hopefully stimulating thinking and discussion on the life and mission of Jesus from Chopra’s writings and beliefs along the ‘spiritual journey’ (no matter whether you fully agree with Dr Chopra’s views on Jesus or not) .

I have added a few of my own thoughts (in italics). I recommend that you read this book, if you are interested in spiritual (or “airey-fairey” as my very “down-to-earth”, practical friends call this subject matter) matters. (Incidentally, I do ‘try to test’, further explore and apply these principles in ‘real life’ and they DO work). Hope sharing this short extract, these ‘eternal truths’ from an excellent book may be of interest, uplifting . . . and perhaps even inspirational to you too. Enjoy “THE WORD” . . .

“Spirit exists to serve, and since we are all spirit, our life should be dedicated to service. When you serve others, you are servant and master to yourself…
and this state of Higher Consciousness is real and open to ALL of us.”
*

PART THREE: TAKING JESUS AS YOUR TEACHER

The Search for Higher Reality

From his teachings we learn how to create a shift in our own awareness. Jesus asks us for personal transformation. He exists in awareness as the state of unity with God.

“Be in the world, but not of it.” You are spirit first and an individual person second. Apply the teachings. Life becomes more effortless as you move closer to
God-consciousness. At a higher level he is saying, “Be at one with me. If you do, your struggles will end.” (???) In truth, the world is flowing from you. The
universe co-operates with you, once you know that your desire and God’s desire are the same.

“Ask and you shall receive.”

“Be still and know that I am God.” Sit quietly and go inward.

Sharing some Thoughts (Spiritual) on Jesus from ‘The Third Jesus’ by Deepak Chopra (Part Four)

“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”
– Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Submitters’s Note:
This article (in point form) was based on notes and some extracts I’ve taken directly from Dr Deepak Chopra’s fascinating and thought-provoking new book, ‘The Third Jesus’, whilst studying the link between the human mind and spirituality. As I take notes, contemplate and share these most revealing thoughts from Dr Chopra, I learn more about my own spiritual journey. So am sharing this short extract in the form of my notes from Part One of the book ‘The Third Jesus’ (” a great enlightening read”) in the spirit of hopefully stimulating thinking, debate and discussion on the life and mission of Jesus from Chopra’s writings and beliefs along the ‘spiritual journey’. I
recommend that you read this book, if you are interested in spiritual matters. (Incidentally, I do ‘try to test’, further explore and apply these principles in ‘real life’ and they DO work). Hope sharing this short extract, these ‘eternal truths’ from an excellent book may be of interest, uplifting and perhaps even inspirational to you too. Enjoy “THE WORD”…

‘THE THIRD JESUS’ by Deepak Chopra: How to Find Truth and Love in Today’s World:
The Christ We Cannot Ignore

Published in the UK in 2008 by Rider, an imprint of Ebury Publishing
www.rbooks.co.uk and www.deepakchopra.com

Introduction: To continue from Part Three…

“Spirit exists to serve, and since we are all spirit, our life should be dedicated to service. When you serve others, you are servant and master to yourself…
and this state of Higher Consciousness is real and open to ALL of us.”
*

PART THREE: TAKING JESUS AS YOUR TEACHER

The Search for Higher Reality

From his teachings we learn how to create a shift in our own awareness. Jesus asks us for personal transformation. He exists in awareness as the state of unity with God.

Be in the world, but not of it.” You are spirit first and an individual person second.

“As you sow, so shall you reap.” The world is a mirror of the self.

The difference between the vengeful God of the Old Testament and the loving God of the New Testament is that human consciousness was ready for a shift in perception.

YOU are the light of the world. Here Jesus is speaking for ALL human beings.

The mind creates both illusion and reality; but you have a choice which one to invest in.

“For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.”

Spiritual power increases as people gather (and especially pray) together. As you pray, you BECOME.

“Our prayers are answered, not when we are given what we want;
but when we are challenged to be what (all that) we can become.”
– Morris Adler
*

In the early Church, everything centered around two core beliefs: that Jesus was the Messiah and that he rose from the dead. These formed the basis of communion.

“What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, if he loses his soul?” He said explicitly that he had come for the fallen, the wayward, the lost sheep, the prodigal sons. Adhere to the vision. It’s not whether you have a lot or a little in material terms; but having a vision and keeping it before your eyes.
The world exerts constant pressure to conform to its values; however spirit exerts no pressure. Strive for unity of body, mind and spirit.

How the Path Opens Your own awareness – we each relate to God on our own terms. There is a striking dichotomy between Jesus’s humility and his exaltation.
Redemption through God is a matter of asking and automatically receiving.

Consciousness is the field where all thoughts, images and words are born. Jesus warns against the illusion of the material world. His teaching is all about choosing to align yourself with God, the Father; because He alone is real.
*

The Middle of the Journey

It’s a process of transformation. When he teaches his disciples that the truth would make them free, layers of meaning are at work. His followers will be free
from political persecution, religious intolerance, physical limitations, and eventually
death itself.

Freedom is all-encompassing; it brings you into God’s presence by releasing you from the illusion that you live behind walls. The end of the journey will look nothing like the world we took our leap from. The middle of the journey isn’t the same as the destination.

God is a steady reality, like breathing or being awake. God and ego aren’t compatible.

Jesus saw himself as beyond death. “And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)

He considered his teachings to transcend history, even time itself. “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” (Matthew 24:35)

He invited everyone to be in his being. “Abide in me, as I abide in you.” (John 15:3-4)

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” (Matthew 28:18)

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” (Matthew 5:9)

“Do not think that I have come to bring peace, but a sword.”
(Matthew 10:34).

Symbolically, the sword that Jesus brings may be the kind that upsets and transforms people’s lives inside. Or we may simply have lost the actual context that Jesus was speaking in (ie. a metaphorical interpretation in these words dividing families, because of different beliefs and faiths). The Messiah’s dedication to peace is embarrassing to modern Christianity!

Courage – Jesus was brave in the face of overwhelming odds. Jesus taught humility, not just as an antidote to pride; but as another way to become free (totally free of ego, free in spirit).

In higher states of consciousness, love has power (great). It’s the truth and experience. Use today’s crisis for tomorrow’s growth.

What would Jesus do in my shoes (have a great laugh at my efforts!!)? He would keep walking the path. He would manifest as much courage, truth, sympathy and love as he actually possessed. He wouldn’t pretend to be what he wasn’t.

The Son of Man was most human, when he mirrored the conflicts of everyday life, a plane of existence that he knew intimately, even as he rose above it. Your goal and mine isn’t to imitate Jesus (we can’t anyway!). It is to become a part of him – or as he said, ‘to abide in him’. We can do that at the level of consciousness by becoming part of the unending process that turns seperation into unity. Our lives belong to that process, as surely as the life of the Messiah did.”

In summary…

“THE GREAT AWAKENING

Historic Christianity has been based on Scripture and, despite all the conflicts and disagreements, a core set of beliefs has survived for 2000 years. Scholars have uncovered a consistent thread in the historical record regarding the actual words, deeds, and teachings of Jesus. His eternal message reverberates with divine wisdom; so that the authentic message regarding the words, deeds, and teachings of Jesus is as relevant and useful today as ever. In essence they are:

* Give to anyone who asks; knowledge and righteousness are revealed in action

* Beware those who claim to speak on behalf of God; first, know yourself

* Find the light inside, and share this light with the world

Each ONE of us CAN be channels of God’s Infinite Love and Grace. WE CAN ignite the flame.

These writings are an attempt to let Jesus speak for himself… and I hope, I trust that the “spiritual Jesus” shines through these words… so that you may feel his “sublime presence”, through His Infinite Spirit and Grace… TODAY”

# Adapted slightly from Rex Weyler’s great words in ‘The Jesus Sayings: The Quest for His Authentic Message‘ (as published on Intentblog . Rex’s book looks like another fascinating read).

“Let your light so shine that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matt 5:16)

You are the light of the world; a city cannot be hidden, if it is built on a mountain top. A lamp is not lighted to be put away under a bushel measure; it is
put on the lamp stand, to give light to all the people of the house; and your light must shine so brightly before men.” (Matt 5,14-16. Knox).

“Let the light of your BEING shine brightly;
so revealing Who You Really Are.
Be a Bringer of the Light,
which emanates from our soul, God, our Creator, the Ultimate Source, the Essence
of Life (and Ground of our very Being).
Therefore, it can do more than illuminate your own path.
YOUR spirit will help makes the lives of others easier by illuminating others
paths.
For this light is our humanity, the spirit of God, truth, wisdom,
beauty and
especially love…and it lies within each one of us.
Through your actions and your being, let your light,
YOUR spirit truly shine brightly on the world,
like the radiance emitted by a candle at midnight.”

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

I love these words from Marianne Williamson as used by Nelson Mandela in his
inaugeration speech as State President at South Africa’s first Democratic
Election in 1994.

“People fight and die for religion but they seldom live for religion.”
– former Indian Prime Minister, Jahruhlal Nehru

My brief) comment on Nehru’s quote above: Following the teachings of Jesus Christ (and Christianity) is NOT religion. but simply applying the eternal principles of psychology as well as (and blended in with) spirituality) in a “personal living relationship”.

“Deep within us there is a flame that burns, and that flame is the spark of God. In some it burns brightly, in others it is barely distinguishable; but always it burns…and with love and acceptance the flame gets higher and brighter. We can help others to kindle this flame by seeing the good in them, even if they don’t
see it themselves.”

A “Book Review”: ‘THE THIRD JESUS’ (Part Two by Deepak Chopra)

FAITH:
The Jesus who speaks in the gospels seems obsessed with faith.

Meditation

Jesus didn’t come from a meditative tradition, as Buddha did, and he placed his emphasis on prayer, faith and knowledgeChristianity went on to worship over self transformation, prayer over meditation, and faith over inner growth.

A “Book Review”: ‘THE THIRD JESUS’ (by Dr Deepak Chopra) – Part One

Jesus thought timelessly and rose to the highest level of enlightenment (and consciousness).

‘You are the light of the world.

(My comment: One has to experience the presence, the spirit of Jesus in a life… and this comes through asking: “Ask and it will be given.”)
* *

(Matt 5:16)

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, ‘who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking;
so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

‘THE THIRD JESUS’ by Deepak Chopra: How to Find Truth and Love in Today’s World: The Christ We Cannot Ignore

Published in the UK in 2008 by Rider, an imprint of Ebury Publishing www.rbooks.co.uk and www.deepakchopra.com

Introduction: To continue from Part Three…

“Spirit exists to serve, and since we are all spirit, our life should be dedicated to service. When you serve others, you are servant and master to yourself… and this state of Higher Consciousness is real and open to ALL of us.” *

Life becomes more effortless as you move closer to God-consciousness. At a higher level he is saying, “Be at one with me. If you do, your struggles will end.” (???) In truth, the world is flowing from you. The universe co-operates with you, once you know that your desire and God’s desire are the same.

“Ask and you shall receive.”

“Be still and know that I am God.” Sit quietly and go inward.

“Our prayers are answered, not when we are given what we want; but when we are challenged to be what (all that) we can become.” – Morris Adler*

His teaching is all about choosing to align yourself with God, because he alone is real. *

The Middle of the Journey

It’s a process of transformation. When he teaches his disciples that the truth would make them free, layers of meaning are at work. His followers will be free from political persecution, religious intolerance, physical limitations, and eventually death itself.

“Do not think that I have come to bring peace, but a sword.” (Matthew 10:34).

* In summary…

A “Book Review”: ‘THE THIRD JESUS’ (Part Two by Deepak Chopra)

The Jesus who speaks in the gospels seems obsessed with faith.

PART TWO THE GOSPEL OF ENLIGHTENMENT

“Jesus said, ‘Be in the world, but not of it.’ Love and Grace:

*

FAITH: The Jesus who speaks in the gospels seems obsessed with faith.

At the highest level, a prayer is no different from any other thought; because all thoughts bring about a result…even if it’s a change in one’s own consciousness.

He is presently working on his latest novels ‘The Awakened Spirit’ and ‘From Seeds of Hate to the Bonds of Love’, based on some true and inspiring stories of the unquenchable, the indomitable human spirit, that lies within each one of us. Stories of ‘Endless Possibilities, Far and Grand Horizons‘.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking; so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson

I love these words from Marianne Williamson as used by Nelson Mandela in his inaugeration speech as State President at South Africa’s first Democratic Election in 1994.

“Deep within us there is a flame that burns, and that flame is the spark of God. In some it burns brightly, in others it is barely distinguishable; but always it burns…and with love and acceptance the flame gets higher and brighter. We can help others to kindle this flame by seeing the good in them, even if they don’t see it themselves.” – anon

“Together, one mind, one life at a time, let’s see how many people we can impact, encourage, empower, uplift and perhaps even inspire to reach their fullest potentials. Change YOUR world and you help change THE world… for the better.”

“Your beliefs become your thoughts, Your thoughts become your words, Your words become your actions, Your actions become your habits, Your habits become your values, Your values become your destiny.” – Mohandas (Mahatma) Gandhi

We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make our world.” – the Buddha

“God is a mystery, the ‘mystery of life’, a Creative Presence, Who/That allows me to be who I really want to be and become.”

“God, the Essence of Life, is the great mystery in the vast unknown; yet He(??) is understandable.”
