“It took me twenty long years of blood, sweat and floods of tears to become an overnight success.”

In his new book, ‘Put Your Dream to the Test’), John Maxwell is talking about the dream journey of the bible-character, Joseph. And there are parallels that each one of us can learn from Joseph in following the path of our own dreams. A first lesson: Each great journey has a great price. The questions to ask yourself to make your wildest dreams come true:

1. Am I willing to pay the price for my dream? Don’t be limited by your thinking (eg fleas in a bottle learnt not to jump high). There is always a cost to reaching your dreams. Family and friends often react negatively to your dream. Always remember, along the journey, you will have more “downs” than “ups”.

2. Do I have enough passion? Does my passion impel me to keep the dream alive? Passion is the great energizer, which pushes us on, when all appears lost.

3. Always remember, God is with you in the tough times, the “dark ” days and hours in the valleys. Along the journey we become closely attached to God, our “closest companion” through our “ups and downs”… to guide, strengthen and comfort us. God is ALWAYS faithful “If God is with us, everybody else might as well be too!” – John Maxwell

* Attitude is a CHOICE The attitude I have today is a choice. It’s my responsibility… TODAY! Invest in others. Put others first. Help them achieve THEIR dreams. Add value to them (and their lives) There are four ways to do that:

1. Value people, first

2. Add value to what others value.

3. By making ourselves more valuable

4. By doing things God values – that have an eternal nature.

NB: Be forgiving – no matter what someone has done to you. Have a forgiving spirit.

*

Part Four: In his address (based on his new book, ‘Put Your Dream to the Test’), John Maxwell is talking about the dream journey of Joseph. Joseph went from being a “believer” into a “buyer of the dream”, he really “bought into” his dream and “survived the surprise”. He fully trusted God (though “bad things can still happen to good people”).

INTRODUCTION

Submitter’s Note:

Craig has been studying the amazing powers of the human mind for the past two decades (now his “life-long hobby”). These are some notes I took from an uplifting and inspiring address by Dr John Maxwell from the ‘Hour of Power’ television programme (he has written a new book), so (even if you are not “religiously-minded”) I am sharing the contents of this author’s work in the spirit of encouraging and hopefully even inspiring those people to just GO FOR IT with all you’ve got. Nothing is impossible, if you earnestly desire it and work hard at achieving your dreams. Thank you sincerely, Dr Maxwell for sharing your most uplifting words of wisdom in encouraging me to follow my passion and reach for my personal dreams down the “un-trodden path of self fulfilment”. I in turn am passing them on through the amazing power of the ‘net’. Enjoy…

NOW THAT YOU HAVE ACHIEVED YOUR WILDEST DREAM(S)… WHAT NEXT?

Once we achieve, receive our dream, how to make the most of it? My dream is HERE. Often we can impact others more through sharing our failures more than our successes (a failure is just a person, who hasn’t succeeded …YET!). Now that you have achieved your dream…

* Be GENEROUS

* HELP others.. through adding value to them…. through your success (and what you’ve learnt along the way). Remember: ” God will not give to us, what will not flow through usSo share the benefits of your dream with others. Ask yourself: “Does my success, achieving my dream, benefit others in some way?” “Will other people be blessed with the God-given dream inside me?” .

*

SUMMARY:

1. Be GENEROUS

2 Be HUMBLE. “If the Lord makes you successful… one day, I’ll keep you humble.”

– a wife (I won’t say whose!)

Remember: “divine promotion is better than self promotion”) God raised me up. God helps those who can’t help themselves, when we are in over our heads and God makes the difference in achieving our dreams. Keeps us humble. CHOOSE to give God the glory, pass it on . Say, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” – Philippians 4:3)

3 Have an attitude TO WIN Say “I CAN…one sunny day!

4. Live with an ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE Always remember… God has already equipped you with all that you need to achieve your goals and even your wildest dreams . It usually takes a long time for your dream to lift off (the bigger the dream, the longer it takes). So be PATIENT. Wait on your dream. Trials and tribulations bring patience. Dreams are conceived in the mind long before they are realised. Dreams are like a large aircraft, a Jumbo jet on the runway. It takes a lot of energy for them to lift off, but then you soar freely. You can, if you THINK you can. Just believe in your dream…and yourself!

5. Use the great power of the human imagination to the fullest.

“Whatever the mind can conceive, can be achieved”.

Do all this in following YOUR dream and you WILL soar high and allow you to be all God intended you to be and become. You CAN do it … and in doing so you’ll surprize yourself at what is “humanly” possible!

Makes your dreams BIG enough for God, the Ultimate Source to fit in!

BELIEVE it (first) …then SEE your dreams come true

About the submitter:

Craig has been following his dream for many years. He likes (rather loves) to share knowledge and insights from his life experiences with dashes of humour to try and help others in ‘every little way’ he can… without being too much of a “Mr goody-goody boring two shoes” (although they may be different colours and he’s lost the other one) . Craig believes the spiritual dimension is something we can all “tap into”… like ‘a sixth sense’, which gives each person ‘superior wisdom’ (“Infinite Wisdom from the Ultimate Source”) in making decisions and choosing one’s path in life.

He loves encouraging people to find, then follow their dreams in life… truly believing that with hard work, dedication, faith, and patience absolutely ANYTHING is possible to achieve (accomplish) in life

The various books* that Craig “felt inspired to write” are available at:

Run Your OWN Race: The Greatest Race

Submitter’s Note:

These are some brief notes that I took from an address by American televangelist, Joel Osteen some years back. I hope you find them as uplifting and inspirational as I do… and that is my reason for sharing. Enjoy…

Plant seeds of hope in others. David (say = I) fulfilled his purpose for his generation.
God has equipped each one of us exactly what we need to achieve our destinies.
When God made you, He (?? or choose whatever means to you, male, female or “gender neutral – It”) threw away the mould. Be comfortable with who God made you to be. Then make the most of what God has made.

Don’t compare yourself with others; otherwise you’ll lose focus.

Just because you’ve failed before, doesn’t mean that you are a failure.

,Discipline (and not desire) determines your destiny.

God has not equipped you to do something outside your vision.
God, the Ultimate Source has equipped you to fulfil your unique destiny.

Follow your own inner vision for your life – be comfortable in yourself. (“I can’t run your race, run with your vision”). Only YOU can do that.
Stay focussed. Say :Even in the valleys, this situation will work out for my ultimate good.

EXPECT a favourable outcome to your endeavours, ie EXPECT SUCCESS

I hope that it will help you, as much as it has helped me in writing my journal (keeping a daily record of my thoughts and progress). If I’m on the wrong track, I’ve really made an ass of myself!

This work is a practical look at the steps to take to see one’s wildest dreams turn into reality…through making the most of the amazing powers of the human mind.

I have brought in some spiritual aspects, as I believe we are all on a spiritual journey in an “earthly existence” (and the spiritual is just another and higher dimension to psychological principles and truths of life). We are spiritual beings; because we humans do not live solely by instinct, as we have the POWER to make CHOICES in our lives – to make them better and more comfortable, or to help others in some way ( as we live at a higher plane than animals…at least most of us!).

So I’ll be sharing some philosophical principles in life, based on MY beliefs.

1. Firstly, ask yourself this vitally important question:
WHO AM I?

This is the “core of you and the real essence of our being”. What excites you and makes you “tick-tock-clock”. It is not WHAT I am (in other words what you DO or a living), eg truck-driver, laywer, sales clerk, nurse, accountant (oh dear!) and so on.
It is father, husband, wife, provider, encourager, carer, and so on.

Secondly…
2. What “fires you up” with passion?
These are what brings you most pleasure, activities that you are best at, ie. your God-given gifts. I love writing to “touch” and hopefully help in encouraging others to be all that they can become and so live more joyful and fruitful lives.

For most people their jobs (= “just on broke”) are merely a means to the end – paying the bills and earning a living, but the means usually becomes the end in itself. That is how most people define themselves, eg homemaker. Incidentally, if you are really stuck in the deep brown stuff, our greatest problem is also God’s greatest opportunity – to work miracles in our lives. I truly believe that!

HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR MIND – How to Get What You really Want in Life

“The mind is the citadel of the soul, wherein is housed the connecting link between the conscious thinking process of man and Infinite Intelligence. The only thing the Creator has given man is the right of absolute control – it is the most important of the gifts of the Creator…and the means by which man may control the major part of his earthly destiny.”
– Napoleon Hill

“Within you right now is the power to do things you never dreamed possible. This power becomes available to you just as soon as you can change your beliefs.”
– Maxwell Maltz

INTRODUCTION

In this work we’ll explore the link between the mind and spirituality, by taking a brief look at the relationship between the psychological and the higher dimension of the spiritual realm. This work is a practical guide to help you make the most of your circumstances, through utilising the amazing power of the human mind.

Secondly…
2. What “fires you up” with
passion?

3. Ask yourself this important question:
What can I do to make my life more SIGNIFICANT?

and finally

4. What is your PURPOSE – your reason for taking up space on the planet?
This is closely related to your concept of the meaning of life.
For example, many people think they believe that life is about
sharing their blessings of time, talents and money with others. Great!

Everyone has unique gifts and we are all different.
I truly believe my purpose is to be an encourager and “bridge-builder” through the power of words. Anyway what “normal” job would be suitable for someone like me!

All one needs to do is follow ones heart and TRUST fully, taking one step at a time in total faith…then one step leads naturally to the next.
*

Now, HOW TO GET THERE?
Firstly,
Analyse where you are in life and how you got there.
Oh well, that’s another book!

MEDITATE
This state provides clarity of thinking through drawing on intuition, the “still calm voice within”. I find it helps me greatly in choosing the path ahead, the “road less travelled”: to give me an opportunity of clear thinking and total
peace of mind on where to put my mental and physical energies. To know where you want to go, you first have to know where you are standing on the “map of life”.

And thank goodness we are all unique creations wanting different things out of life!

So
Ask yourself…

What do I most want out of Life?

PRAY, if you do that. Prayer operates through the subconscious mind connecting to God, “Infinite Intelligence”, the Creator of the Universe, “Higher Self”, Divine Wisdom. You are drawing on a ‘Higher Dimension’ we can’t (nor are we supposed to) understand. The subconscious mind is your gateway to unlimited power.

Write down a mission statement for your life. What is your main PURPOSE for being on this planet? Not just to take up space or inhale oxygen, please!

Who do I want to really Be?

It all starts with DESIRE (intense/burning).

The first step is making a DECISION:

I really want to be a writer, who uplifts and inspires people to reach for their ultimate dreams and become all they can possibly be.
“My dream is trying to make some difference through encouraging and helping other people to fulfil their potentials , to reach for and even realise their
dreams.” Crazy???
This is the path I KNOW that I am headed to achieve my destiny, even though “logical/rational” (and some “well-meaning” acquaintances have said it’s impossible from here in “Sleepy Hollow” near the bottom of the world). I took the DECISION to work really hard, follow my heart and not my mind (logic) and just TRUST the universe for a favourable outcome to my endeavours.

I truly believe God, Infinite Spirit, the Ultimate Designer of the Universe, Creator of Life itself, has a plan or EVERY life, but it’s up to each individual to FIND it themselves. Once discovered, then we have to take the decision to follow that path, “come what may”. I know its scary, but it DOES work out! Life is all about CHOICES…and making the right ones for YOU in total FAITH.

In so doing, I believe we glorify our Creator. The purpose of life is expressing our individual talents for the good of humanity and I believe, God is happiest when we can express our love back to Him/Her/It. ( I CHOOSE to think that, whereas my good analytical deep-thinking friend thinks “God doesn’t care a jot , but just observes us)

“Every man has his own destiny; the only imperative is to follow it, no matter where it leads him.”
– Henry Miller

“The task ahead of you can always be overcome by the power within you…and the seemingly difficult path ahead of you is never as steep with the great spirit that lies within you.”
– craig

“Our talents are our gifts from God… but what we do with them are our gifts TO God.”
*
Here are some recent notes from my journal (as I believe my path illustrates the practical principles that I’m writing about in this piece…

I DECIDED to put my main FOCUS into studying the human mind and writing this account (“hence”- nice word eh?) this journal. I am just TRUSTING (unlike a ‘net’ colleague, who purely look at the financial rewards for the effort) and “some sane” acquaintances who say, “get another proper job”. I believe GIVE FREELY, without expecting, then you’ll be surely blessed.

Signed off with an attitude of GRATITUDE that I love my fascinating “work” and am living the perfect life (“crazy” to others) for ME.

Thursday 8th April 2004:

My goal or the Easter long weekend to is work on this manuscript and read more on the unlimited powers of the human mind (don’t worry about mundane domestic issues, like housekeeping, gardening and mowing the lawn). Who cares about those things!
So made the decision to continue along this path.

The four “D’s”:
It all starts with:

* DESIRE (intense, burning and passionate)
What do you really want out of life?
What is your DEFINITE PURPOSE?

* Make the DECISION to go for it and neglect boring domestic chores, like mowing lawns.

In order to get there, you’ll need to develop

* DISCIPLINE (self) – usually in big doses.
(I’m typing this on a “wild” Saturday evening in “Sleepy Hollow” near the ends of the earth).

CHAPTER ONE:

DEVELOP A SENSE OF PURPOSE OR YOUR LIFE:
What are your deepest DESIRES and VALUES?

2. SET YOUR PERSONAL GOALS:
Make the DECISION to go for your deepest desires, your wildest dreams.
Are you honestly prepared to make all the sacrifices, no matter how long it takes to “get there”? Man was made to create through the amazing powers of the human
imagination. What do you like CREATING most? I believe our Creator is happiest when we are our “Authentic Selves” doing what we are “destined to do”.

What is a miracle? I don’t think a miracle an only be defined as an occurrence violating natural laws. In fact, I see my situation as a miracle, considering how far I’ve come and where I am now in my life with my resources.
I truly believe my calling is building bridges through the net at this stage and still believe my path and vision lies in electronic
publishing.

TOOK THE DECISION: WRITING (and web publishing) IS MY MAIN PATH in the future – encouraging others through my writings online + people in the “real world”. So made the personal decision to be an “incorrigible encourager” (and an “information and inspiration distributer”).

Make the DECISION:
to FOCUS on your desired outcomes. EXPECT a favourable outcome to your endeavours.
“Blessed are those who expect little… because they will receive little.”

I’d better expect “heaps” then from my endeavours.

Never mind, I’ll just work steadily and see what happens. What the Universe brings forth, but I love the uncertainty of the journey anyway!

“Be bold and unseen forces come to one’s aid!”

The key, I believe is INTENT – the SPIRIT with which you undertake any course of action. ACT. Just DO, without focussing overly on results. Of course, the hardest thing is getting the right balance between objectives (results) and just doing for the pleasure.
(This will depend on things, like your personal needs at the time, mind-set, temperament, outlook on life,
attitude – whether optimistic or pessimistic, etc.).
As the sportspeople say, “get in the zone” and “go with the flow”. I find I get my best results when I just do my very best at a particular task or goal, work steadily and consistently each day, taking one step at a time.

Stop striving and simply “let go and let God.”

…and that’s what I’m doing greatly enjoying writing this “work”.

THINK, like a child. Children have incredible imaginations. What were the dreams you had as a child (before the responsibilities and “burdens” of adult maturity)? NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE!

As Walt Disney once said…
“It’s kinda fun to do the impossible.”

We CAN/we WILL do it with God’s help.
Keep a POSITIVE ATTITUDE at all times, when you encounter seemingly insurmountable obstacles (and you WILL),
Trust your
intuition/God.
Do not wait! The time will never be ‘just right’.
“Start where you stand and work with whatever tools you may have at your command
and better tools will be found as you go along.”
– Napoleon Hill (author of the classic work ‘Think and Grow Rich‘)

“There can be no shadows unless there is a sun.”
Pray about the right path for YOU.
TAKE ACTION (massive).
ACT “as if” you are already successful and visualise “arriving there”. Crazy!
The future does not have to be the same as the past. Say, “everything in my life has prepared me for this journey”.
Follow the Laws of the Universe: ie. the Law of:
1. Cause and Effect
2. Attraction (=
Gratitude)
3.
Creativity
and
4. the Power (Magic) of Belief

“Work as if everything depended upon YOU and TRUST (and pray) as if everything depended on God.”
– anon

Take one step towards God (or Allah, the Life Force, or whatever you understand a higher being to mean to you) and God takes three steps towards you.

Have “heaps of patience”. Your desired results may take months or even years to materialise. Lord, please give me patience… but I want it right NOW!.

What would you DO if you knew you could not fail? Embrace the journey.

Then watch “miracles” happen in your life, as you one day achieve your most earnest desires.

Just do your very best to make A DIFFERENCE in this amazing world and have great FUN along the way. That to me is true success*.

* (like loving a lot, laughing a lot and having good friends).

This path will be used as a testimony to the unlimited power and love of God, our Creator, who know’s each one of us intimately (and consequently our unique purposes) and consequently what’s best for YOU…

so love the magical journey of life.

Happy travelling in finding your true purpose for being on this planet,
ie God’s plan for YOUR life.

How much music can you make out of your life, with the time you have left?

– Eleanor Roosevelt

“Man is mind
and evermore he takes the tool of thought

brings forth a thousand joys,
a thousand ills.
He thinks in secret

Environment is but his looking glass.”

“I believe that God creates us with different gifts; so that in life’s journey each one of us, experiences challenges (often severe and our attitude will depend on how we get through them), things that give us joy and using our gifts allow us to bless the world around us.”

God has not equipped you to do something outside your vision.
God, the Ultimate Source has equipped you to fulfil your unique destiny.

Follow your own inner vision for your life – be comfortable in yourself. (“I can’t run your race, run with your vision”). Only YOU can do that.

LETTERS (from ‘The Life Application Bible)

Here are some of my notes from the Letters in the Life Application Study Bible (in point form). This material has been sourced from my studies, extracts and notes from LIFE APPLICATION STUDY BIBLE published by Tyndall House Publishers (1996)

As I research and study this excellent Bible (New Living translation) given to me by my good friend, Lindsay, ‘The Prophet’ (“just another nobody for Jesus”) , I’m taking notes. And as I learn and grow spiritually… so in turn, am passing on these words of wisdom (eternal). I hope, I trust that they may encourage, empower, uplift and hopefully even perhaps inspire you as they do me. And this is my reason for sharing.

Thank you sincerely to the many contributers, as`well as Tyndall House Publishers for the immense work you have put into your inspiring ‘New Possibility Thinkers Bible’ and for encouraging me from the depths of despair to pursue my dreams through thinking endless possibilities through faith in Jesus Christ.

– CS Lewis

INTRODUCTION

And each day the devout “Prophet” diligently read his green-jacketed Bible and made notes. He also passed on his knowledge to his disciples, who visited him in his small flat, which was known as the “Church of Holy Truth and Wisdom” in the local community.
The “Prophet” was an excellent teacher, explaining the beliefs of Christianity simply to his frequent visitors. Though he had little money, he was a very generous man with a wonderful gift of hospitality bestowing tea, coffee and biscuits on all who called, many of them “lost souls” (the “ten percenters” as he called them), those poor people, who had lost meaning and direction in life)… and he got even better at his simple teachings to his friends, as the holy spirit filled him with even more clarity with the slow passing of the years.
*
Here are some of my notes from the NEW TESTAMENT # (which I’ll add to from time to time), which I find extremely helpful, encouraging, empowering and inspiring in my daily living…in every aspect of my life…TODAY and EVERYDAY

# New King James Version “A life lived in the Spirit of Christ will never die.”
*
ACTS
Purpose: To give an accurate account of the birth and growth of the Christian church. The church can be a vibrant agent for change in the world (for the better).
Acts is the connecting link between Christ’s life and the Life of the church, between the Gospels and the Letters
Key verse: “But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power and will tell people about me everywhere- in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (1:8)
After the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Peter breached boldly and performed many miracles. Because of the Holy Spirit, God’s people were empowered, so they could accomplish their tasks. The Holy Spirit is available to empower believers… TODAY. We should turn to the Holy Spirit to give us the strength, courage and insight to accomplish our work for God.
The gospel could not be confined to one corner of the world. This was a faith that offered hope to ALL humanity.
Witness, love and serve.
*
ROMANS
Purpose: To introduce Paul to the Romans and to give a sample of his message before he arrives in Rome. Paul presents the Good News: Salvation is open to ALL. We are saved by grace (unearned, undeserved favor from God) through faith (complete trust) in Christ and his finished work.. Through Him we can stand before God, justified, “not guilty” (3:21 – 5:21)

KEY VERSE
“Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us” (5:1)
*
1 CORINTHIANS
Purpose
To identify problems in the Corinthian Church, to offer solutions, and to teach the believers how to live for Christ in a corrupt society.
Key Verse “Now dear brothers and sisters, I appeal to you by the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ to stop arguing among yourselves. Let there be real harmony, so there won’t be divisions in the church. I plead with you to be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.” (1:10)
*
GALATIANS
We are saved by faith, not by the good that we do. Have you placed your whole trust and confidence in Christ? He alone can forgive you and bring you into a relationship with God.
When the Holy Spirit leads us, he produces his fruit in us. Just as we are saved by faith, not deeds, we also grow by faith.

LETTERS * (from THE LIFE APPLICATION STUDY BIBLE)

Notes and comment sourced from the LIFE APPLICATION STUDY BIBLE published by Tyndall House Publishers, Inc, Wheaton, Ilinois, USA.

INTRODUCTION
Here are some of my notes from the Letters in the Life Application Study Bible (in point form). This material has been sourced from my studies, extracts and notes from LIFE APPLICATION STUDY BIBLE published by Tyndall House Publishers (1996).

As I research and study this excellent Bible (New Living translation) given to me by my good friend, Lindsay, ‘The Prophet’ (“just another nobody for Jesus”) , I’m taking notes. And as I learn and “grow spiritually”… so in turn, am passing on these words of wisdom (eternal), which have served to sustain and greatly encourage me over the years. (I hope it’s not too “heavy/heavy religious” for you!). So I hope, I trust that they may encourage, empower, uplift and hopefully even perhaps inspire you as they do me.

INTRODUCTION

And each day the devout “Prophet” diligently read his green-jacketed Bible and made notes. He also passed on his knowledge to his disciples, who visited him in his small flat, which was known as the “Church of Holy Truth and Wisdom” in the local community.
The “Prophet” was an excellent teacher, explaining the beliefs of
Christianity simply to his frequent visitors.

Here are some of my notes from the NEW TESTAMENT # (which I’ll
add to from time to time), which I find extremely helpful, encouraging, empowering and inspiring in my daily living…in every aspect of my life…TODAY and EVERYDAY

The Holy Spirit is available to
empower believers… TODAY. We should turn to the Holy Spirit to give us the strength, courage and insight to accomplish our work for God.
The gospel could not be confined to one corner of the world. This was a
faith that offered hope to ALL humanity.
Witness, love and serve.
*
ROMANS
Purpose: To introduce Paul to the Romans and to give a sample of his message before he arrives in Rome. Paul presents the Good News: Salvation is open to ALL. We are saved by grace (unearned, undeserved favor from God) through
faith (complete trust) in Christ and his finished work.. Through Him we can stand before God, justified, “not guilty” (3:21 – 5:21)

KEY VERSE
“Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have
peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us” (5:1)

*
EPHESIANS
To strengthen and encourage the churches in the area
Key Verses: “We are all one body, we have the same Spirit, and we have all been called to the same glorious future. There is only one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and there is only one God and Father, who is over us all and in us all and living through us all” (4:4-6)
God’s Purpose
According to God’s eternal, loving plan, He directs, carries out and sustains our salvation.
Unity in Christ

PHILIPPIANS
Purpose: To thank the Philippians for the gift they had sent Paul and to strengthen these believers by showing them that true joy comes from Jesus Christ alone. Paul wrote this letter to encourage them in their faith.
Key Verse “Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again – rejoice!”
Happiness depends on happenings, but joy depends on Christ.
Be humble. Laying aside self-interest is essential for all our relationships. We are to take Christ’s
attitude in serving others. We must renounce personal recognition and fulfillmerit. When we give up our self interest, we can serve with joy, love, and kindness.
We can have joy, even in hardship. Joy does not come from outward circumstances, but from inward strength. Followers of Christ get their joy from Christ within.
1.Joy in suffering 2.Joy in serving 3. Joy in believing 4. Joy in giving
What we put into our mind, determines what comes out in our words and actions. Paul tells us to program our mind with thoughts that are true, honourable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent , and worthy of praise.
Focus all your energies towards winning the race. Spiritual
exercise will help you grow in faith and character.
“For I can do everything with the help of Christ, who gives me the strength I need.” (4:13)
Can we really do everything? The power we receive in union with Christ is sufficient to do his will and to face the challenges that arise from our commitment to doing it. Ask Christ to strengthen YOU!
“And this same God, who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” (4:19)
“May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.” (4:23)
*

COLOSSIANS
Purpose: To combat errors in the church and show believers have everything they need in Christ, the fullness of God
The Author of Reconciliation. Basis of the believer’s hope. The source of a believer’s power for a new life.
In this letter Paul clearly teaches that Christ has paid for sin, that Christ has reconciled us to God… and that Christ gives us the power to grow spiritually and be all that we can become.
Union with Christ
Because our sin has been forgiven and we have been reconciled to God, we have a union with Christ that can never be broken. Because Christ is God, he is head of the church
We must not cling to our own ideas and try to blend them into
Christianity. Christ is our hope and our true source of wisdom.

*
1 THESSALONIANS
Purpose To strengthen the Christian Thessalonians in their faith and give them the assurance of Christ’s return
Key Verse
“For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus comes, God will bring back with Jesus all the Christians who have died.” (4:14)
*
1 TIMOTHY
Purpose: To give encouragement and instruction to Timothy, a young leader To give practical advice to the ministry.
Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. “There is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and people.” (2:6)
We human beings are separated from God by sin, and only one person in the universe is our mediator and can stand between us and God and bring us together again – Jesus, who is both God and man. Jesus’s sacrifice brought new life to all people.

*
2 TIMOTHY Paul passed on to Timothy the torch of leadership
Tells us to use his gifts with boldness, prepare others to follow him in the ministry, be disciplined and ready to endure suffering, keep his eyes and mind focussed on Christ.
Paul, the missionary apostle was a man of deep faith, undying love, constant hope, tenacious conviction, and profound insight. And he was inspired by the Holy Spirit to give us God’s message.
Paul and Timothy were active in preaching and teaching the Good News about Jesus Christ. Paul encouraged Timothy not only to carry the torch of truth, but also to train others, passing on to them sound doctrine and enthusiasm for Christ’s mission.
“With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the proclamation of the Good News.” (1:8)
“Teach these great truths to trustworthy people, who are able to pass them on to others.” (2:2)
“It is God’s way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do.” (3:17). The purpose: to equip us to do good.

Paul’s final words… “I have fought the (a) good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me – the crown of righteousness that the Lord, the righteousness Judge, will give me on that great day of his return. And the prize is not just for me, but for all who regularly look forward to his glorious return.” (4:7-8)
*
TITUS
Are you putting your faith into action by serving others?

PHILEMON
Purpose
To convince Philemon to forgive his runaway slave, Onesimus, and to accept him as a brother in the faith.
*
HEBREWS

Hebrews is a masterful document written to Jews who were evaluating Jesus or struggling with this new faith. The message of Hebrews is that Jesus is better, Christianity is superior, Christ is supreme and completely sufficient for salvation.
Purpose To present the sufficiency and superiority of Christ
Key Verse: “The Son reflects God’s own glory, and everything about him reflects God exactly.” (1:3)
Jesus alone can forgive our sins. He has secured our forgiveness and salvation by his
death on the cross.
Jesus guarantees our access to God, the Father. He intercedes for us, so that we can boldly come to the Father with our needs. Christ removed sin. Jesus is the fulfillment and culmination of God’s revelation through the centuries.
“Let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us.” (12:1)
Faith:
Faith is confident trust in God’s promises. God’s greatest promise to us is that we can be saved through Jesus.
Endurance
Faith enables Christians to face trials – the commitment to stay true to God when we are under fire. Endurance builds character and leads to victory.
*
JAMES (the brother of Jesus and an early leader in the Jerusalem church)
Purpose To expose hypocritical practices and to teach right Christian
behavior.
James says, it is not enough to talk the faith WE MUST LIVE THE FAITH
Prove it by your actions!
Genuine faith will inevitably produce good deeds Read James and become a doer of the Word (1:22-25)
Key Verse: “Now someone may argue, Some people have faith; others have good deeds.’ I say, ‘I can’t se your faith if you don’t have good deeds; but I will show you my faith through my good deeds.” (2:18)
Sincere service. Put our faith into action. Love one another. Prayer is part of God’s healing process. Be responsible for how we live each day.
Belief, faith, trust
*
1 PETER

Offer encouragement to suffering Christians “These trials are only to test your faith.” … So if your faith remains strong after being tried by fiery trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honour on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.” (1:7)
“Turn away from evil and do good. Work hard at living in
peace with others. The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right, and his ears are open to their prayers. But the Lord turns His face against those who do evil” (3:11,12)
*
2 PETER
Purpose To warn Christians about false teachers and to exhort them to grow in their faith in and knowledge of Christ.
To encourage followers.
Key Verse: “As we know Jesus better, his divine power gives us everything we need for living a godly life. He has called us to receive his own glory and goodness.” (1:3) Christ’s Return
One day Christ will create a new heaven and earth, where we will live forever. As Christians, our hope is in this promise. But with Christ’s return, comes his judgment on all who refuse to believe.
Their words are like a light shining in a dark place – until the day Christ appears and his brilliant light shines in your hearts.” (1:19)

*
1 JOHN
Purpose: To reassure Christians in their faith and to counter false teachings.
John is the apostle of love, and love is mentioned throughout this letter. Love is action – showing others we care- not just saying it. To show love we must give of our time and money to meet the needs of others.
John presents God as “life” (5:1-21) John was written to let you know the reality of God through your faith in Christ.
1. God is light Live in the light. God is truth.
2. God is love Discern false prophets.
3. God is life
Make the most of every opportunity

*
2 JOHN
Purpose To emphasize the basics of following Christ – truth and love – and to warn against false teachers.
Christ is truth and love in person. Recommit yourself to being a person of truth, of love and of obedience
Watch out for false teachers.
Key Verse “Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning.” (1:6)

*
3 JOHN
Purpose
To commend Gaius for his hospitality and to encourage him in his Christian life, his faith. John encourages Gaius to practice hospitality, continue to walk in the truth, and do what is right. Generously giving to others. Love the truth and reflect Christ’s values in your relationships.

SUMMARY
Hospitality: John wrote to encourage those who were kind to others.
Faithfulness: Gaius and Demetrius were commended for their faithful work in the church. They were held up as examples of faithful, selfless servants.
*
JUDE (brother of Jesus and James)
Keep strong in the faith and oppose heresy. Beware the danger of false teachers.
The duty to fight for God’s truth.

Enjoy…

* *

* Be GENEROUS

Trials and tribulations bring patience.Dreams are conceived in the mind long before they are realised.

Thinking for a Change (from Inspirational Books)

Our thoughts influence our reality and our PERCEPTION of reality (otherwise known as the concept of ‘manifestation’). Our thoughts are usually a reflection of our beliefs and attitudes. So if we want to change our reality, then we have to change these beliefs and attitudes that shape our thoughts. Let’s now look at how this process works in some more detail…

1. Changing your THINKING changes your BELIEF system. This is a critical point that shapes your reality. It is important to remember that negative thoughts are usually not the truth and are just beliefs held. A person with low self esteem may hold limiting beliefs, such as “I’m not valued by others”, or “I feel worthless, unloved”, etc). However, if these limiting thoughts persist, they WILL then lead to it becoming a self fulfilling prophecy in a person’s life… and thus a barrier to our experiencing feelings of self worth, love and so on. The cycle repeats itself. So NEVER forget, YOU ARE worthy, a unique person, a ‘child of God’ with special gifts and talents to share with others.

2. Changing our belief system changes our EXPECTATIONS. Put positive expectations into action. EXPECT favourable outcomes – expect something good to happen to you…and take ACTION accordingly…
thinking always positive outcomes to your endeavours, ie. success.

3. Changing our expectations changes our ATTITUDE. Focussed thinking allows you to pursue excellence in your life. People who are successful do the right things, BEFORE they feel good.

4. Changing your attitude changes your BEHAVIOUR: “Feel right, then DO right” – with positive expectancy. EXPECT good results – good things to happen to you.

THINKING FOR A CHANGE (from “INSPIRATIONAL BOOKS”)
(Adapted from Dr John Maxwell)

“Within you right now is the power to do things you never dreamed possible. This power becomes available to you just as soon as you can change your beliefs.”
– Maxwell Maltz

The vital importance of managing (controlling) ones thoughts, as well as maintaining a positive attitude on the stair-case to success… in business and in the journey of life.

Our THOUGHTS determine our FEELINGS (emotions).
Our EMOTIONS determine our MINDSET: whether positive or negative.
Our MINDSET* (or state of mind) determines our ATTITUDE to life.
* – though not “set in concrete” – it CAN be changed

Our ATTITUDE determines the way we VIEW the world – hopefully with HOPE and FAITH.
Our MINDSET AND ATTITUDES determine the ACTIONS we DECIDE to take to move our lives ahead, ie. to reach our goals, desires and aspirations.
The ACTIONS we DECIDE to take usually determine our results (or OUTCOMES)… and

Our OUTCOMES determine the life we will lead… and
the LEGACY we leave on this planet.

*
Our thoughts influence our reality and our PERCEPTION of reality (otherwise known as the concept of ‘
manifestation‘).

5. Changing our behaviour changes our PERFORMANCE. Be the best you can be with excellence…and most importantly, with utmost integrity.

6. Changing your performance changes your LIFE. Sow excellent seeds to reap an excellent life and don’t it too seriously. Enjoy.

THINK (SUCCESS)

IMAGINE

CREATE and

Have FUN as you learn and grow down the journey of life (as I’ve done researching and writing this piece).

Author Brian Tracy (or was it Norman Vincent Peale, the author of positive thinking?) reminds us that “you are not what you think you are, but WHAT YOU THINK, YOU ARE.” Think big. Dream big. Pray big…
and look for big results. It all begins with changing the size of your thinking.

FACE YOUR FUTURE WITH POSITIVE ACTION

Saint Paul once said these words: “Fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you. For God did not give you a spirit of fear, but a Spirit of power, a Spirit of love and a Spirit of self discipline.” You ALL have within you the spark of God, as well as the unique gifts that your Maker has given you. Fuel that small flame with Love and goodness, and let the light of your uniqueness shine brightly on the world.

Don’t wait till you have all the skills. Take that first step in faith and the next step will fall into place naturally. Because that is the way God, the Universe works!

You too can discover the power of God, the Creator of the universe in a new, dramatic powerful way. When you THINK RIGHT, when you focus your mind on your desired goal (or preferably goals), when you focus your mind on the spark that God has given to you and you allow the spirit of God’s power to enflame that spark, and fuel the embers with love, you WILL discover that there’s nothing you can’t do with God. Absolutely nothing is impossible to you and God working in unison!

NOTES (based on my studies and research, as well as the great discussions on the workings of the human mind with Dr Andrew Eastcott – a “spark of
inspiration” from the seed of Dr John Maxwell’s work):

KNOW what you want to do

Aim for clarity, clarity, clarity in your “tinking”.

When I create clarity I set out with an intention. When I move that intention forward each day I create momentum. Every small
action I take each day over a sustained period just builds up, like a giant ball of snow rolling down a mountainside.

Action is primary (it comes before anything and determines everything else) in that action can change our emotions – it can be “called upon” when required; however it takes TIME to effect a change in one’s thought patterns. It’s a physical change to “wholeness”. ACTION is the only way to change negative thoughts. Just DO…something, anything! Change your thoughts into ACTION (you are not directly changing feelings).

The Power of Thought Energy:

Thoughts are electrical in nature (working like vibration!); whilst feelings are chemical – it just takes TIME to change a feeling from negative to positive. Time is the medium in which the process of change in thinking is fashioned. Everything begins with DECISION. Make the right decisions, then manage them.
ACTION focuses the human mind on DOING, rather than on an existing state of darkness (negativity).

1. Why MUST life be fair and perfect for you?
– there is no excuse for making excuses!
– Become the self author of your authentic self!

RUN YOUR OWN RACE: THE GREATEST RACE (OF LIFE)

“Greatness is forged in the valley of adversity.”

Just be the very best you can be.
St Paul: “I have kept the
faith. I have followed the course.”

Celebrate yourself: who God made you to be.
God has already equipped you with all you need to achieve your
dreams. You DO have the tools for your calling, to be victorious.

You will soar high and be all the person God intended you to be.

“God has already equipped you with all you need to achieve your wildest dreams.”

“Make your dreams BIG enough for God to fit in”

“Success to others may be apparent in what you DO; but significance, meaning and purpose lies, then reveals itself in what you ARE and BECOME down the ‘river of life’ – how and the spirit with which you face, then overcome the daily obstacles, the frequent trials and tribulations along the often rocky path-way of life’s magical and mysterious journey. Light your path brightly.”
– craig

“Let the light of your BEING shine brightly;
so revealing Who You Really Are.
Be a Bringer of the Light, which emanates from our soul, God, our Creator, the Source, the Essence of Life (and Ground of our very Being).
Therefore, it can do more than illuminate your own path.
YOUR spirit will help makes the lives of others easier by illuminating others paths.
For this light is our humanity, the spirit of God, truth, wisdom,
beauty and especially love…
and it lies within each ONE of us.
Through your actions and your being,
let your light, YOUR spirit truly shine brightly on the world,
like the radiance emitted by a candle at midnight.”
– craig (as adapted from Neale Donald Walsh in Conversations with God Book 3′).

“What we are is God’s gift to us.
What we become is our gift to God.”

About the author:
Craig believes the spiritual dimension is something we can all “tap into”… like ‘a sixth sense’, which gives each person ‘superior wisdom’ (“Infinite Wisdom from the Ultimate Source”) in making decisions and choosing one’s path in life.
